2006 Travel Report - BA

Arrved in BA yesterday morning for the start of a circa 20 day Argentinian adventure. I leave on Monday (10th) for Cordoba where I will spend some time in the city with breaks in-betwen that will take me several hours into the rural heartland (shooting / hunting) I had a whistlestop tour last September and stumbled across both this site and Roxan's services shortly before my departure - Both have been invaluable!

For anybody considering coming to BA, who DOES NOT SPEAK SPANISH unless you have some assitance you are going to find it tough going. Being a typical Englishman I speak no Spanish and can't understand why everyone else doesn't speak English! - Joking.

Started my afternoon of in Orleans yesterday - I have read many, many reports on this place and had a coffee in there last September. I have got to say its one thing to walk in and sit down and another to fathom what to do. I consider myself a pretty confident sort of guy - But for thirty minutes yesterday, the time it took me to sit on a stool at the bar and actually have the courage to get of it and attempt a proposition, I struggled to make a positive advance. There were maybe 12-15 girls in there spread around, I Sat at the bar, on reflection a mistake, better to take a table, you feel under pressure to perform at the bar. There were some reasonably attractive girls in there. One in particular I had seen walking in as I was crossing the road - Tall, blonde, filofax, pretty (she knows it) slim and very do-able. This is were the problem lies - You are Sat down and see a girl to your liking, well what next? I smiled a few times, got a smile back, but she continued in conversation with her friend. Now I aint no Tom Cruise, but I aint no Danny Devito either - Here I am smiling at a hooker and getting zero reaction! - Okay just as I am staring to think this is a mistake I notice a quite attractive girl get up and walk to the toilets (she was hidden behing a pillar) now in my book this was a very, very do-able girl - Blondish, shoulder length hair, nice breasts, smartly dressed, very early twenties, looked almost a career girl. Okay so what do I do next - She is hidden in the corner behind a pillar - After about ten minutes I pluck up the courage to walk across and sit down at her table - Disaster she speaks NO ENGLISH at all - I struggle stupidly for about ten minutes with mindless conversation and then I ask how much (clumisily) - 300 pesos comes the reply - After spending several months reading the reports, reviews and opinions of the contributors of this forum, I know this is about 150 pesos too much - So naturally I say too much (as I don't speak Spanish I sort of indicate) - She sais no - Where do we go from here? - Obviously I accept here price and we go to the hotel round the corner. What followed was well, pretty basic, flat, no conversation, sex. To be honest I was glad to get it over with - No matter how pretty she was. I am sure the regulars of this site are thinking, idiot you should have just got up and walked away - Easier said than done!

I had sent Roxan a list of possible "prospects" prior to me leaving the UK - The main search criteria being (apart from size of breasts) that they spoke English. Roxan scheduled my first appointment for Friday evening - AFI (Platynum) - arriived on the dot reception call me and she is escorted to my room. Looks 8/9 + she speaks almost perfect English. A very, very enjoyable four hours is spent. I will repeat when I fly back into BA from Cordoba. In my room = Relaxing, comfortable, no pressure and best of all conversation! - It makes all the difference, honestly. Price - well too much, by forum standards, for sure, but cheaper than my experience in Blacks last year.

Today (well 10pm Saturday) - Roxan scheduled in Adabella / Delfyna (Platynum) - Arrives at hotel room door (escorted by bellboy) not to unlike pictures on the web. This is a seasoned operator. Unfortunately she speaks ZERO ENGLISH - Her site states English - A reasonable pleasant two hours was spent (lots of mobile phone interuptions) She has nice, very large (not silicone) natural breasts, shortly cropped hair on her fanny, and perfoms okay in bed. In no way was she anywhere as good or satisfying as AFI - In fact as I am typing this I am thinking to myself "Better the devil you know than the devil you don't"

Tomorrows another day - What have I learnt in two short days - Two important points - Make sure you choose a girl that speaks English if you speak no Spanish (there will always be exceptions of course AYI was excellent last year) however it makes for a more comfortable, relaxing and "natural" encounter (If thats your thing - Personal choice) Use the services of Roxan - What she charges is "peanuts" in the whole scope of things and you HEDGE YOUR BETS.

Moral of the story it really makes life easier if you either took the time out to learn the language of the country or took the easy option and restricted your choice to ENGLISH speaking CHICAS! (Excuse the length & spelling of this first stage of my report - More to follow)

Well Local Lad youve highlighted several times that speaking the local language here is crucial. The % of English speakers will decline by 95% when you leave BA for the provinces. Id suggest hitting the books for couple hours/day in your free time since you're here for 20 days. You can pick up basic bedroom/negotiation/directions Spanish quite quickly. Maybe ask Roxanna if she'll give you few hours lessons. Sure, you can get by here speaking only English just as you might get by in Hungary but knowing at least the basics makes for a much better experience.

PS Id suggest naming this thread something like "Local Lad in BsAs" since 2006 reports already exists, or moving the report to that thread.

Maybe this report should be the opener for a thread entitled "the importance of having basic spanish competence in Buenos Aires". Of course, one can come to Buenos Aires speaking only English, stay in top-flight hotels, eat at touristy restuarants, and use the services of a translater to arrange P4P if that is your thing. However, IMO, to get the "real" and "best of" Buenos Aires, you really need to be able to speak some Spanish. The inhabitants of this city are remarkably intelligent, insightful and often speak in a very eloquent way- but if you cannot understand anything they say, you will not be able to appreciate it. In addition, I think that the people you meet will take it as a sign of respect if you make the effort to learn and use their local language, instead of just assuming they will cater to English speakers. On another note, good luck trying to score any Portena non-pro pussy if you are unable to speak castellano- it likely won't happen.

LL, I like the honesty of your report. Things aren't always great, especially for us newbies. And I know exactly what you mean when you say that it is "easier said than done" to walk away from a gorgeous woman on your first day in town. I did the same thing myself on my second trip, also at Orleans.

What I found, though, is that the girls who provide the best service and who enjoy themselves the most are the girls who speak little or no English. It got to the point where I avoided any chica who could speak English. So I walked into the bars with my Spanish phrase book "Espanol Para Gringos" and the chicas had a good laugh. They wanted to see the book and teach me a few words. I found it was easy to get a feeling for which of this ladies was going to be fun.

OK, we could not talk philosophy, but I found a way to communicate with the chicas who wanted to communicate. Having said all that, to each his own, and I look forward to your future reports.

I got the Pimsleur courses and went through the first one and half of the second one.

So, while I wasn't even close to fluent - I was able to get around.

It made things easier.
