View Full Version : Soccer game Boca juniors vs River plate this sunday
I was told yesterday at the airport that there is a super match this Sunday at 16:00.
Boca juniors vs River plate at River's playground.
Would like to watch but have no experience as to where to get tickets, cost, how to get there etc.
Any info will be welcomed and also if a fellow monger would like to join me will be most welcomed.
Thanks
El Greco,
I follow the local futbol scene pretty closely. River vs. Boca is about as heated a rivalry as you will see in any sport, anywhere. A huge local event. I have not even tried to score tickets, though I guess with will and luck maybe they could be had. If you were to get ahold of tickets I would definitely go. Beware-avoid getting seats in either the Boca or River gang / fan section if at all possible. TOO nuts with possibility of mayhem.

ThanksI have seen 8 or 9 matches in Argentina but this is the game I have always wanted to see. Every country has local derby's but I don't think they come any bigger than this one.
As for tickets if you go down to the Boca stadium they have a ticket office there, but go before Sunday.
On Sunday the atmosphere will be incredible these two teams HATE each other with a vengeance.
There are 2 brothers who run escorted tours to matches you can get their contact details at reception in most hotels.
Take care and enjoy. FH
I've been to football games in Italy, Spain, Germany, and thousands in England, including Liverpool v Everton and Man Unt, Barca v R Madrid, and there's nothing like this game. Impossible to get tickets at the box office now, and I've lost the contact number I had, but I'm sure the touts still have them. Expect to pay 200 plus from a tout, but it'll be worth it. And sit with the fans, it'll be an experience for you Americans.
The best option is to ask at your hotel for tickets. All tickets for the good seats were sold out yesterday, and tickets for the bad seats will be sold tomorrow, but it will be impossible to get them unless you want to sleep at the stadium to be first in line.
Buying from touts is possible, but can be problematic. First, you can't know if the tickets are fake or not (and there are fake tickets sometimes) Second, it will probable be to the bad places of the stadium with all the crazy fans, not very recommended.
If your hotel can offer you tickets, try to get a ticket to the "platea", this is the central stand. Don't buy a ticket to the "popular", which is the stand behind the goal with the fanatics, also called "general" or "tribuna".
As far as I remember, plateas "Belgrano" and "San Martin" are the best, while platea "Centenario" is behind the goals and is not recommended (I'm not sure about that)
If you can get an escorted tour to the match, it will probably be expensive but worth it.
I don't like River's fans, too quite in comparison to other fans in Argentina, but still this is a great game to attend.
Thank you all guys for the info. I only managed to find a guided tour for a "platea alta" seats behind one of the goalposts. The worst ones I guess. Price was 280p. They refused to tell me the face value of the tickets which made me believe that they were the cheapest ones the so called "populares" which they cost 20p.
Well, the worst was that they were on the River's side. Being a fan of Boca would not be advisable to watch the match from there. Can you think of me celebrating the one and only goal of Boca there? No thanks.
So I and Mediboy decided to give up the idea and watch it on the TV instead.
We finally went to Puerto Madero to watch the F1 boat show at 15:00 and later on went to a nearby café for the soccer game.
