I know there are a few guys here just for the Chicas, but there are others that like to do other things, before getting laid.
There are some very good Tango events.
Such as ¨Tanguera¨ at the El Nacional. It is like ¨West Side Story¨, but with the Tango. Miafia boss brings girl from Italy to work in his clubs and a dock worker falls in love with her. Lots of pushing and shoving and knife fights.
Great!
Take a date or not.

http://www.entradaplus.com.ar/It was so much better when Mara Goodoy danced the lead role but it's still a lot of fun. In typical Argentine fashion she didn't want to put anybody that might be better than her in the lead, hence the overweight can't keep her eyes off of her feet girl. The male leads are great dancers and some of the girls in the chorus, one in particular, are exceptional. The entire chorus is exceptionally hot and worth the price of admission regardless of the dancing.

This turns out to be a Sort of Mini Woodstock for the Argentinans. You cannot by just one ticket for a certain performer. The top price is 300 something pesos. Grass in front is 220p.

The Platters (what's left of them) are playing at the Teatro Opera, Corrientes 860, on November 11th. 4326-1335.
WT,
On the way back to EZE. I saw that the Police were playing at River Plate. I do not know when. It was on a billboard.
I saw them in the 80's twice.
1st time in 1981/2 at "Liberty Bell " Horse race track in Philadelphia.
You just sat in the grass on the infield with a general admission ticket and I remember walking almost up to the stage with no problem at all many different times.
The order of appearance that afternoon at the outdoor show was:
1. The " Coasters " (Yakety Yak, Charlie Brown, etc) Best fucking opening act I ever saw because no-one expected them there.
2. Oingo Boingo.
3. The Specials.
4. Go- Go's.
5. Police.
Saw them again in MSG in 85? But then they broke up.
They returned recently to NYC with mixed reviews.
But what do you expect?
Taking the Way back machine with Mr Peabody & Sherman?
If anyone goes, please report.
Best Regards.

I saw them in June in Oakland, CA. They got mixed reviews. I thought they were great. I sat in the Handicap section. Great seats on the main floor on an elevated platform.
They are playing here on December 1st and 2nd. I will be home by then.
I hear Genesis is coming to B. A. I don't when.

Polo starts on Saturday. Sit with prince and princes. Forget the prince. Same price.Do you or anyone else know exactly what one needs to do in order to secure some tickets? Is there some kind of box office somewhere or some place online? I've tried to scout it out a little but haven't had any luck.

Expensive (even by US standards) The polo "season" here is very short and the tickets get snapped up in a hurry.
A good source for discovering "what's happening in Buenos Aires is to go to www.ticketek.com.ar. Also you might want to check www.lunapark.com.ar
These sites are in Spanish but you will be able to make out the big name performers easily.
With those two searches you should cover most venues in BsAs.

The ticket office is across the street from the train station 3 de Febrero. On the corner of Dorrego and Libertador in Palermo. I do not know the starting time. Should be in today's paper. The weather forecast is for rain.

We have reservations in the Chandon restaurant if any of you ''peons'' care to join us! We expect many wealthy ''Americanized'' AR divorcees to visit our table. As we meet them, we arrange to meet them in Punta del Este for the ''social season''.I might not make it Sidney, I'm having to deal with CockSuckers here in sex prison, the MotherFuckers are every where.

There are higher priced seats and cheap seats. You can walk up to the box office and get tickets for the same day.
I believe the first match starts at 2:30pm and the second around 4:30pm.
In the early match the temperature can be very hot. Bring a hat and water.
But if it rains they do not play.

I bought two tickets for polo at 30 pesos apiece plus some kind of small fee at the Hard Rock Cafe in Recoleta. It was easy.

Sidney, Big Boss Man and myself bought the cheap seats. 15p each. We never sat in them, Our Prince Sidney talked his way into the Stella Artois Tent. Free Beer and Food. We sat in the shade. Great Fun and lots of pretty chicas.
This weekend the tickets start at 15p, next weekend they start at 25p, then 35p the following weekend. That is the sunny side of the field. Shady side we were told start at 200p for the first weekend and go up. Two matches, two different fields. The afternoon is the best. Get there around 3:30 and watch the end of the first match or just the chicas.

Seat was fixed, only after they saw what had happened. Argentines are cheap.
They also saw that I needed a desk for my computer. I may stay in the same building, because I had better offers from other owners that have apartments in the Building. One owner is from Bolivia. She lives most of the time in N.Y. and speaks English.
But I must Learn more Spanish for the better deals.

Info or just bullshit. It is a costume party but that's easy!
Just come as an American monger. No costume required! Just wood baby!
Between April 24 to May 24 the city of BsAs has been having free live concerts here on Avenida de Mayo, between Avenida de Julio and Florida (on weekends)
Concerts have varied from tango, flamenco, to singing and dancing, etc. Anyways, yesterday they had a Jewish festival. Unfortunately things got out of control: Apparently some armed protesters approached the viewing area and began to fight with the crowd. It's been all over the newspapers and the news today.
When I got there, I saw five people on the ground with handcuffs. Some of the weapons I saw where some clubs and chains. One fucker even brought his nun chuks to the party (WTF! Anyways, the news is reporting injuries to several people, including a cop.
See pics of arrests below.
On a related note, I did see a fight at the corner of Corrientes and Riobamba on Saturday night on my way to dinner. It was beating for the ages: you know you're in deep shit when you see the cop at that same corner running in the opposite direction of the fight!
What's up with BsAs "finest" getting their asses kicked all the time?

Jack,
Thank you for the info. It sounds more fun than going to a madahos or newport. However I would assume the costs add up. Maybe a US$150/200 evening with completo?

I went to one of the events earlier this year. It was at Club Axione {sp?} Anchorena 1119. There is a short-term hotel next door. At the time, I think I paid 100pesos for admission, but cheaper tix were available if you bought in advance.
There were strippers, dancers, etc. All the advertisers on Gemidos and Bairesgirls were sent a free invitation. Free snacks were served, along with cheap drinks. Admission may have included a drink or two, as I remember being given a few little tickets upon entry. One was for a raffle.
I had a good time for a few hours and got about five phone numbers for use at a later date.
The bad news: Bar was hot, lots of people in a small area. Air cond was not adequate. Music sucked-lots of house muzak-same beat over and over.
Cameras and cell phones were permitted. There is a fair chance you will be on U-tube before the night is out.

http://www.terriblefiesta.com/I used to receive this site's emails, but after two bad experiences, I put them on my spam list. If you do not speak Spanish, it is especially bad. The ratio of men to women was at least five to one, and the drinks were expensive. I thought the first time might be a fluke, so I went again with the same results. If you do not smoke, the second hand smoke is very irritating.

Tres3.But I've talked to a few guys that have and they pretty much say the same. Avoid. They paid for the VIP area thinking it would be a good way to do a M / G with some of the providers listed and they said the girls didn't do any mixing at all. From the VIP they could see the photo area they had set up to make it look like the chicks were getting their photos taken with the guys at the event. Too bad, it's a great idea.

I attended one a couple of years ago. Not so good. The 'owners' monopolized the chicas. I never got the impression chicas were available except for the sponsors at the end of the night. Poor ratio of girls to guys. You want a phone number. It's free on their webpage. But you do get to see some of the more popular independents without photo shop! Of course, Argies say, it is the best party in the world.
At current exchange rate it's cheap, so if you go it's a small investment.
Interesting to read the comments. I'd say it depends what your expectations are.
I have seen these parties advertised over the years, though never been. But I never looked at them mainly for getting dates, but rather something to do between dinner and the boliches. Pay the minimum entrance fee, have a couple beers, watch the antics, then head out to find my date for the night. As an added plus you could check out some of the website chicas in person, and see if there was anything that interested you to call up another day. I think they used to have some of these parties in Solid Gold and La Lopez before they closed.

(I smoke, it wouldn't bother me).
The guy I was talking about wasn't trying to get a date that night but rather meet, get phone numbers, and more importantly get his phone number in their phone so they would know he wasn't some kid fucking around on a computer if he texted them and was unable to do that. He said the chicks wouldn't talk to anybody at all. But of course if you were 25, in great shape, speak perfect Spanish and can sling chamuyo why they would most likely pay you to fuck.
