View Full Version : Visiting Argentina for the first time
Hey guys,
First of all I'm happy to be here, and the information on the site has helped me already. I've been in Buenos Aires for a week now and am loving it, but can use some more good advice.
I went to Cocodrilo, a couple of times since I got here based members recomondation, really liked it although if I had more experiance could have probably manged better. Let me share some recent information about the place,
First of all, they try to take a 50p entry charge but they wave it quickly if you say even in broken spanish like mine that you were in there the other night and you didn't have to pay. Second, sometimes they do seem to require you to buy a chica drink in order to leave with a girl and the price for a chica drink is 50p. I liked the place because its like any pleasent dance bar but the chicas are pros. Each time I was there there were at least 5 lookers and another 5 doabeles. Price seems to be 200p for an hour hour and a half. They tried to get me to pay 300 but went down quickely. The down side of the place is that reguler drinks are expensive- 30 pesos.
A few questions,
Does anybody know a place similare to the Cocodrilo in Buenos or elsewhere in Argentina?
Is 200p an ok price to pay for a hot looking girl, or can you expect to pay less?
I'm not from the states, but can easilly pass as an American and most people think I am, when meeting a chica, is it a plus or a minus to be American? My thought is that on the one hand they might try to screw you over with a high price becuase they think Americans are rich, on the other hand they might play nice in hope to make money later? What are your thoughts?
I have more question, but Ill ask them another time, thanks for the advice.

Yes, Yes & Yes.
Tell them your a "Canook" and $200 peso's is all you can afford.
And try New Port.

Jotting,
English is obvoiusly not your first language (as in my case) so not being taken as an American might be an advantage, but not necesarily. Most chicas will associate nearly every foreigner as "rich" and therefore a target. Partially this is true, because in whatever currency you make your money (be it Dollars or Euros, one of those still takes you a long way in Argentina.
Anyway, if you manage to negotiate A$R 200 for a session, you are paying reasonable prices.
Cocodrilo is a very unique place, as it is not the typical, "organized" chica bar, but it's a place where several different crowds meet - chicas and guys seeking them, but also a lot of people just having a good time. And it is considered by many chicas as an "after hours" place, where they go when the boliche they work in has closed. If they pick somebody up, good, if not, they are just having a good time. This also explains why they are much more price flexible than earlier.
Have fun,
El Alemán

I think they make you pay the admission on certain days when you are not a regular client, or, they make you pay the admission on certain days. When I went there in a regular basis, a couple of times they let me pass without paying, but other days I have seen that no one goes without paying admission.
A few questions,
Does anybody know a place similare to the Cocodrilo in Buenos or elsewhere in Argentina?Cocodrilo it's a unique place, similar would be certain bailantas in once (once it's a neighborhood by the way) and for that kind of level cocodrilo it's like "upscale", man, they have been there for 15 years and they developed their own brand, I have seen trucks, and cars who proudly 'wear' the cocodrilo sticker.
Is 200p an ok price to pay for a hot looking girl, or can you expect to pay less? When is the same girl you have seen 2 hours ago in Black, Madaho, Shampoo, and she was asking like 600 pesos, I think it's a good deal. It's like an outlet store!

What are your thoughts?I don't think it's more or less being a foreigner in cocodrilo, BUT, you should be nicer in there, as El Aleman stated, girls get there to have fun. Dance a little, have fun then negotiate the best you can.
I went to cocodrilo like one week ago. It was full of guys and just a few girls. Girls in there were plain BAD. And tons of guys around, the place was crowded and was 5 AM. I have seen like 3 girls who seemed interested into doing business, the rest of the few available females were having fun and dancing.
BTW, guys were more agressive and it's common to hear that heavvy stuff goes around in cocodrilo. Buying inside it's from my point of view at least stupid and overpriced.
Also, the music it's so loud, and not my taste, I definetly prefer going to a reg club, like niceto rather than cocodrilo, for just having a drink, at least I see better girls
Hey guys,
Thanks for your input. One of you said that he was there at the Cocodrilo at 5 pm and it was slim pickings, I've found the place to be better earlier in the night, I think 2-3 am is perfect, the place is not compeletly full, and plenty of chicas.
I realise my question about being taken as an American is not a crucial one, but what I mean by asking is, whether or not it is a good thing for them to think you have pleny of money or not. Obviously for setteling a price it is better for them to think you don't have too much, but assuming you know how to handle yourself and won't grossly overpay, maybe its better for them to think your rich and potentialy a good return costumer and then give you better service?
Does anybody know a good place in mendosa?

With all due respect, I know that this is the "The Critic-Free Zone", but that doesn't release you from your obligation to research the Forum before you post questions.
Case in point: New Port.
I did a search and found 200 reports referencing New Port.
http://www.argentinaprivate.com/forum/search.php?searchid=580989
Not only is there an entire thread for New Port, but it's also listed in the "Clubs and Boliches List", its location is indicated in the "Club Maps", and it's address is included in the "BA Cheat Sheet".

Hi Jackson.
Firstly, as a new member, many thanks for such a fantastic service. You guys rock - I've had hours of fun reading your reports.
For most of us going to a new city on holiday, we have at best 2 or 3 days to get to grips with the local scene - by which time, we've probably been ripped off and thoroughly disillusioned.
So, to expose my "greenness", does anyone have any comments on the girls at www.tangoescorts.com? I've been mighty impressed by many of their girls, but they seem too good to be true. Can anyone comment on the site in general, and a hottie called Deseo in particular?
(Yes, I realise you're about to say, if they seem too good to be true, then they probably are.
I'm planning my first trip to South America in November, and while I note your posts about Platinum Escorts, I haven't seen any references to Tango Escorts. (Sorry, call me spineless, but I like to call for a girl to my room rather than visit the clubs you guys talk about.
Also, do you have a similar service for Santiago, or Iguazu Falls, both of which I plan to visit?
Anyway, if nothing else, your posts have provided hours of fun fantasising - terrific mate, many thanks.
I appreciate your site is purely for Argentina, but if anyone wants any info on Sydney, Australia, let me know. Or, even better, Eastern Europe - you'll see lots of reports on Prague girls, but trust me, Polish and Latvian girls are far better at half the price.

Hi,
What are the best nights to go out mongering in BA? In best I mean, large selection of chicas, good vibe. (If anyone has a seggestion regarding a day of the week, in which the selection is good but places arent too crouded, that would be best, although usually the two come together of course)
Jotting
Jotting,
I think it all depends on where you are going mongering. If you mean clubs like Black and Madahos, I would say Tuesday thru Thursday are you best bet as far as selection. Though Friday and Saturday might be better as far as less crowding.
I usually go on those days. But it's always a mixed bag. Because the large selection of chicas is one thing, finding that one that really rocks your boat is a whole different story.
Regards,
BM.

JottingWednesday's & Thursdays are best with Thursday being the best. There are many reason's for this but it really boils down to two things.
A lot of Chica's take the weekend off to be with family and their childern and Thursday's are Argentino's "Men's Night". You will see them all around town eating dinners in group's, after dinner they monger and cheat on their wives.
Exon
After all these years, I just discovered why Thursday is the best night; I guess one can always learn something new. It takes a real monger-pro to find something on Sunday, though. The only way I've found to do that is by prior arrangement, and even that is iffy.
Sundays are tuff,
Thats usually my rest day and used to build up my sperm count. There are a number of girls that are required to show up for their shifts at varrious clubs, but for the most part their substandard chica's.
For good service on a Sunday, its best to make an appointment Friday or Saturday, then call to confirm Sunday morning.

Some privados are open on Sunday as well, see the private apartment section.
About the only time I use Internet chicas is for Sundays. If you find one you like - doing the Sunday late lunch, followed by a couple of hours of afternoon dessert is cool. For me, even arranging the night before, the club girls, etc. Have been 50% unreliable to be availbable / show up on Sundays.
Arranging a few days before goes a long, long ways.

My first time visitng B. A. And was wondering what the typical dress style was for guys mongering in the Recoleta area. I don't want to overdress or underdress. I was be there next week and was also wondering if it gets a little chilly at night in Feb.
By the way, great site.
Hey,
Can anyone suggest a good brush off line in spanish (an english translation would be nice too)
I've been to a few places and approached by nice girls that I was not interested in, and I'm not exactly sure as to the correct ediquet so to speak. Because the way I treat these girls affects the other ones as well. So what is the best attitude and line to give, when approched by chicas your not interested in?
For flights and hotels, when is peak season in Argentina? Same as North America, or the opposite because of the whole southern hemisphere thing?

Certainly would be effective in communicating a lack of interest

For flights and hotels, when is peak season in Argentina? Same as North America, or the opposite because of the whole southern hemisphere thing?Somehow they got the seasons all backwards down there. July is the dead of winter (seen it snow once) and January is warm enough to melt your face off (big part of why everyone evacuates the city for January (if not longer)
I believe the biggest tourist season is the Spring (Sept.-Nov. I have found March-May very nice, too. However, I have found that I enjoy this city anytime of year (although I have never been in January)
Flights and hotels are very subjective things. Do you want the best deal, nonstop, etc.
You might want to use orbitz or one of the other websites mentioned in the travel thread. As for hotels, I have usually stay at the same two places (although I plan to only rent apartments in the future) and book directly on their sites (although I do a quick check on hotels. Com to make sure I am getting a good price) I have booked last minute using hotels. Com, when I couldn't get into my favorites and I have landed at EZE (without a hotel reservation) and walked into a couple. This can be a little risky in that during the peak of tourist season it can be difficult to find a room (at any price)
Knowing what I know today, if I was booking my first trip to Bs As, I'd:
-plan to stay for at least a week,.
-rent an apartment from one of the well-reviewed and trusted groups (by this forum) in the neighborhood where I planned to spend most of my evening time,
-Book Fred / Silver Star to collect me at EZE and deliver me to my hotel (I have never used his service or met him but reviews are good and for a newbie, I think it would be helpful)
-make an exhaustive list of the chicas I want to see (see note below)
-In advance, I would read about Argentina's culture, etc (so I wouldn't have to waste anytime on it, once in country)
While I was in town, I would make sure to do the following:
-buy Jackson a drink and / or dinner,
-meet up with some fellow AP'ers (buy them a drink too)
-Go to TL's resto (meet TL, of course - buy him a drink too or give his dog a biscuit)
-Do the trifecta: biloche, privado, independente (as often as possible)
-See lots of chicas.
Making the list. Get a thumbdrive, follow the instructions on the post I made eons ago using truecrypt to create a hidden, secure drive (that also is a conduit to the web so none of your surfing data will ever reside on the computer that you are using) Create an excel work sheet and prioritize chicas with:
-names / aliases.
-services.
-special features, etc.
-website (hyperlink)
-pricing info from AP.
-note whether or not you found reviews of the particular chica on AP (if you don't have reviews, classify as TOFTT)
-location information (can also create a google map with all of them on it)
If you want an inexpensive but clean hotel in the Recoleta on Callao at Santa Fe the Hotel Wilton is about $65-95 per night with breakfast. They have a website: hotelwilton.com. I stayed there this March and found it satisfactory. I did not attempt to bring in any chicas since I was only going to stay one night until my apt. Was ready.
Another very satisfactory apt / hotel is the Apart Hotel located essentially next door to the Hotel Wilton. It is an apartment building that was converted at least 10 years ago for short term rentals. It has both One and two bedroom units for about $100US per night but it has been remodeled since I stayed there and I do not know their rates. See their website at administracioncallao. Com. The two bedrooms units have two bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen, and living room with TV etc. The staff is very helpful. I have rented the two bedroom units for my self and for friends. No problem with bring in chicas.
Finally a good rental service is Buenos Aires Habitat. See their website at buenosaireshabitat. Com. Silvia is my contact with this services and I have used them on five occasions and have found the units very nice. I have stayed in the Recoleta, Palermo Hollywood and Palermo Soho.
I generally make my reservations directly with the hotels over the phone after checking out the prices with the travel websites. Sometimes you will get a better rate or room when dealing direct. Most hotels or rental services have someone who speaks English top assist you.
As an aside, follow WW advice and you will have a fabulous visit to BsAs.
Enjoy you visit and good luck.

My experience has been (at least when trying to do these things):
buy Jackson a drink and / or dinner,
-meet up with some fellow AP'ers (buy them a drink too)I soon found myself entertained and figuratively up to my eyebrows in trim (hat tip to Eddie for the terminology) and with the assistance of cunning linguists like Miami Bob, literally (still trying to get that smell out of my eyebrows) Fortunately, they didn't let me drink enough to go to Checkers Pub with Ex.
Thanks, WW! Great info. Planning now for next year. Never been and can't wait.

Interesting forum. I have enjoyed knowing the ins and out of this city. I had ventured to Gysells Apartment about two weeks ago and had an excellent time with Veronica. What is interesting is that everyone here has had a similar experience. Well cudos to her and gysell for running a tight ship.
