Yeah!!! How dare drug companies spend their money developing drugs and expect people to pay for them. To top it off, they are charging people the same no matter where the are instead of making some people subsidize others!!!!!

Cialis came on the market only recently. I doubt that you'll find a generic equivalent anywhere at this time. If cost is an issue, you're better off with generic version of Viagra. It stays in your body a lot less longer. By the way, is Cialis available without a prescription in BA?

MeGustaBoliches

woof woof.

Almost everything is available in BsAs without prescription...if you go to the right farmacia. Another poster mentioned a farmacia in Puerto Madero (dock 4) for Cialis......I use a farmacia in Palermo for Viagra....never tried Cialis there, but I suspect it's available.

Hey JGB,
The big drug companies in the US make a whole lot more than a fair profit (factoring in research costs). In contrast, most of the drugs sold in the US can also be bought in Canada at a much lower cost, (and it isn´t due to US subsidies). On another note, I went to several different farmacias to inquire about Tadalafilo (Cialis) and only one asked for a prescription. Monger on gents...

Pre-paid SIM cards for GSM phones

I was wondering if one can still not buy pre-paid SIM cards (without a contract) in Buenos Aires? I believe about 8-9 months ago this question was raised, and the answer was no at the time.

For those of you who haven't had a chance to use these in other parts of the world, they are very convinient for short term use, and a great way to avoid leaving "paper trails" of where and who you have been calling.

JustGotBack
02-23-04, 00:35
Happy, that's right and wrong. True, drug companies charge far more than a fair profit in the US for drugs. Even after you consider research and development costs. But the reason for this is that they undercharge most of the rest of the world. The US consumer far and away funds all drug development in the world. Western Europe does as well but to a lesser extent. The reason drugs are cheaper in developing countries is because the drug companies know that they wouldn't be able to sell it at a fair price there, it would be too expensive for the local population. Hence it get's subsidized. Who subsidizes it? The US and Western European consumer. You wouldn't believe how much it costs to develop a new drug.

Drugs in Canada are about what drugs would costs if the burden was shared equally across the world markets. But unfortunately that's not the case.

Woof Woof
02-23-04, 02:44
JGB,

You sir are correct. The U.S. is virtually alone in having no government price controls when it comes to prescription drugs. For all our flaws imperialist and all that, we gringos essentially pay for the investments that it takes to bring to market new drugs that benefit the rest of the world.

HappyGoLucky

JGB,

I see your point; well said.

And maybe the trade off is fair when one considers that the US consumes 80% of the world's energy resources, yet has less than 10% of the population.

Well, maybe that's not fair....

Anyway, El Rey Jackson will probably censure us at any moment, so I'll leave the topic.

If you're in BA, PM me.

Lukasek:

Argentinian GSM works on 1900 MHz frequency, just like USA. Most Europe works on 900/1800 Frequency. Lots of newer phones, however, are "Tri-band" and can also work with 1900 MHz.

You wrote:

Now it is possible or not to buy a pre-paid sim card? I didn't understand if yes or not.

That WAS my question. The answer as of 9 months ago was "NO", but that was nine months ago, and I wonder if there is any change in this?

For those interested, below link lists all the world frequencies:
http://www.celluloco.com/products/customer/pages.php?pageid=18

But frankly, the only frequencies we need to be concerned about are the following :) :

The girls in Madahos tend to work on 150p frequncy, but occasionally, a "dual band" system can be had at 300p frequency. I've never utilized a "tri-band" system, but not so long ago another monger had a test run of this system and I wonder if he can post how many MegaHertz(es) he had to resonate to? And lastly, in the U.S. there is often "Network Failure", no matter what the frequency! Everyone knows that the U.S. networks are rough the coverage marginal at best, working on a much higher frequency even when available, let alone all those pesky "compatibility" issues...

May your "freqnency" be low and your "bands" multi......

Gentlemen,

My tri-band Nokia -6610 worked fine when I was in BA during December. I have a European Vodaphone contract and I asked them to "open" BA as a facility for me: this worked out fine, if a little expensive. The same went for Cuba.

A number of friends have told me that getting a local SIM is by far cheaper than my method. This is what I will do on my next visit.

SUPERANDRES TO THE RESCUE!!!
Andres, we really appreciated you keeping an eye
on us.
Now that I am online, let me ask you Andres, I read
yesterday that the people in Argentina are feeling
more optimistic about the economic. The article
mentioned how people are not as afraid of losing
their jobs as before. Also there is also more demand for
small loans and credit in general.
How do you see the situation? I noticed that prices for
taxis are going up. Do you think utilities will follow?

JustGotBack
02-25-04, 04:19
I must be doing something wrong. I called Holiday Tours in Pasadena, Corbonne and Despar...(?). Other than Despar, I can't remember the full name, they were all about the same price as pricing things out on Travelocity. In fact Travelocity had a better selection of days. My Spanish isn't good enough to deal with Despar on the phone. I got that she wanted me to call back in 15 minutes so that I could speak to someone that spoke English.

That leaves me with a dilemma. I rather go to BA, but fares are so cheap to Europe right now. A flight is going to cost about $900 to BA but under $300 to anywhere in Europe. That $600 goes a long way to making up for the higher prices in Europe.

Just got back,
You must be flying out from JFK or Dulles right??
I can't find anything near $300 to go to Europe from
the West Coast.
I have a hold until Friday for a $871 United to BA .
The decision is being discuss between the two heads of state.

It does? Maybe if you go for only a day or two! When I monger in London, I spend 200 quid an hour or 600 for an overnight. That's nearly $400 and $1200, respectively. My hotel is never under $150 a night. A decent dinner will cost me at least $75 per person. A taxi from one part of the city to another will run me at least $20 each way.

Of course, going from the East Coast, it only costs $300 or so to get to London and back in the winter. But that's about the only cheap thing about a trip to London! Of course, other cities might be somewhat cheaper (Prague) - or more expensive (Stockholm, Moscow) - but I think you get the picture.

If you compare those prices with what you pay in Buenos Aires, a $900 plane fare is a BARGAIN!

DWC:

I perceive a general feeling that the overall socio-economic frame won't collapse, so people are less scared. I read yesterday that there was a surge in loans applications.

Respect to unemployment, some people could be more optimistic than others. For instance, the textile and chemical industries are expected to grow significantly this year, while the banking system restructuration (something unavoidable, sooner or later) will force at least a third of bank employees to leave their jobs. So the future looks different, depending on someone's profession.

Households utilities won't go up, at least until 2005. What are raising are natural gas prices for industrial and corporate customers, but not for households.

Hope this helps,

Andrés

JustGotBack,

I agree with 99.9% of what our wise uncle says. The 0.1% is that $1200 for a TLN is what you might pay on average for say a generically ranked 4 - 6 chica, for the real 8 – 9 - 10 chicas in London you can add at least 50% on the TLN price.

Having said the above, Tio Otto is very right about the price issues. You save on the journey only to be stung, and I do mean really stung, by the price you pay for the company you are with ~ unless of course you are going to go for the scrag end of the pay-for-play market i.e. the SW’s walking the east end of London.

The majority of the mongers I know in Europe go to BA and other Latin countries because the net price is more cost effective than staying in Europe and having the same number of high-class chicas.

It’s a false economy my friend to save on the fare and pay on the stay. Besides I live in Europe and can tell you that Latin chicas are hotter, more satisfying, more adventurous, and (for me) always give more ‘bang for your buck’. Go for BA, you only live once!

To say nothing of how ridiculously small European hotels are, and how unhelpful their employees are.

Let me add my 2 centavos here regarding the ongoing discussion of Europe Vs. B.A.:

Yes, B.A. IS cheaper than Europe, for the most part. But using London as an example is not exactly fair. London is one of the most expensive towns in Europe for mongering (if not THE most expensive one...haven't been to Moscow so can not comment there) and everything else. Even the super expensive Paris is cheaper for mongering than London (and much more pleasant, if you ask me).

However, there are still many good values to be had in Europe, especially in the Winter months. There are destinations like Sofia, Bulgaria that are "up and coming" where very affordable sex can be had with very beautiful girls. And let's not forget the trusty old Prague, where a "Privat" girl providing a comparable experience to an apartemnt girl in B.A. can be had for about 1500CZK an hour (58 U$D). That, coupled with the fact that a very good hotel at a central location can still be had for about $90 a night, may sometimes make the numbers work out in favor of Europe in cases of short stays. And oh... did I forget to mention Talin, Estonia??? Another good one... And what about a "private house" in Amsterdam (NOT the RLD) like, for example, park 118 where a one hour session in a regular room runs about 70 Euros?....

Still, please don't kick me out of the B.A. board :) and do not reject my AMA membership application. I want to be on the record for preferring BA. overall to Europe. But the tastes are different, as are the circumstances...

OttoGraham
02-25-04, 16:11
With some exceptions, I do think mongering in Europe is much more expensive than in BsAs. Mongering doesn't just mean the cost of sex, but let's look at an example:

I found this luscious little gem today: ;)

Good looking Eurohooker (http://www.escortwanda.com/english/sid2.html).

Says her rate is 2500 SKr an hour (US$357), or an overnight is 7000 SKr ($1,000). By way of comparison, 1707 Santa Fe will set you back 100 Pesos an hour ($40). And my last TLN from Black was a whopping 400 pesos ($160). And the quality is as good as Wanda, at least I think!

In Prague, one of the less-expensive European mongering destinations, a full-service hour at K-5 Relax is about US$150, not counting a cover charge.

And this is without considering more esoteric things, such as "Would you rather spend a leisurely afternoon at a cafe in Buenos Aires or Sofia?" I know how I would answer that question..... :D

Still, variety is the spice of life, and if one wants to spend thousands on quiff in Europe while I can spend hundreds on the same level quality in Argentina, there's nothing I can say to stop him!

Uncle Otto! Couldn't contain myself, still laughing... :)

With that little link in there, what can I say?... "Nuclear" option exercised and successful! Knuckhead utterly defeated.... I'll just shut up now...

BUT... You gotta love those legs :) ....Doesn't everybody agree??

Not to dig myself further in (looks like I CAN'T shut up-LOL), but another "alternative", frequently overlooked by the East coast mongers is Montreal, Canada. Very beautiful Quebecoise girls can be had for $140 (Canadian)=$104 (US) any time of the day with minimal hassle. The one and a half hour flight is also very atractive and can be found for as little as $250 RT. Now, granted, Montreal is no way comparable to B.A, and the price still will be much higher than B.A., but the proximity of it to the east coast gateways is what makes a quick jaunt so attractive.

Dances, I'm a fellow west coster like yourself. On Travelocity flights to Amsterdam and Frankfurt are $282 roundtrip. May I ask what days you got the $871 trip for on UAL. The lowest I could find was about $1000 on UAL. About $923 on AA.

I also agree it's unfair to compare London or Stockholm to BA in terms of price. Eastern Europe is indeed much cheaper. Also, an hour with a lovely Scottish lass in Edinburgh is 60-70 quid. That's about $110 or so. About what you would end up spending in BA after drinks and bar fee are accounted for. And to be honest, for my taste, that Scottish lass is far more attractive as well as younger. Probably the wildest girls I've ever had were in Edinburgh. But the downside is what to do outside that hour. In BA much of the fun is club hoping until you find the perfect girl. In Edinburgh it's much more get in, get it done and get out. That's not to say that you get rushed. Quite the opposite. It's just for me, pretty much every girl in a Edinburgh salon is damn near perfect. There's no waiting around for the right one. In BA, it's not uncommon for me to go to two or three clubs before picking one. Also, the girls in Edinburgh will spend the entire hour with you whether you pop the first minute or the 59th. But BA is much more fun to hang out in during the day. I tend to get kind of bored in Europe. It's just too much like being back in the US.

We've discussed the Argentine financial situation on occasion. It was the collapse of the peso in 2001 that led to the creation of Buenos Aires as the most economical high-class mongering destination in the world. The cited article below follows up on more of the current situation.

For those interested, I bought Cialis and generic sidenafil at the pharmacy at the corner of Rodreguez Pena and Vincente Lopez last week. Cialis is currently offered at a 30% discount bringing the price of a 4 X 20mg pack to something like 75 pesos and generic sidenafil was only about 25 pesos for a 4 pack after a 10% discount. I could hardly believe it. We'll see if it works!

To Jackson or others that stay in BA and return to the US occasionally. Are you able to get a round trip ticket BA-USA-BA or are the airlines claiming a return ticket requirement? Does airport customs ask for a return ticket?

There is no return ticket requirement involved in the BA-Uruguay-BA trip for a visa stamp. I have done this 3 times on Buquebus. They let me into both countries without a ticket to return to US. There is no hassle of any sort, they don't ask. This is quite different from the situation at the Costa Rica/Panama crossing, for example.

If the airlines are requiring a return ticket, what do you do?

Thomaso276
03-04-04, 11:03
I had to buy a fully refundable one way ticket before American Airlines let me board in Miami, as I do the BA - Miami - BA route. I cashed in the ticket for a credit once I got in BA. When I took the Uruguay ferry trip some time ago, I was not asked for a return ticket. By the way, do you have to stay overnight (I did the last time) on the Uruguay trip, or can you simply ferry over and return later in the same day? I have to take the trip in the next couple of weeks.

Jak
03-04-04, 20:36
Thomaso276 -

I took a day trip on Buquebus at the beginning of last August - one day bus tour they offer - so no, wasn't a problem with not staying overnight. I arranged it through Mayra, and it was a Buquebus tour all the way, so I don't know if there was some sort of special deal if you did this package thing.

Lexton
03-04-04, 22:55
Thanks, Thomas0276. I was afraid of that. Do any others have a different(better) experience on the BA-USA-BA trip?

On Uruguay, no, it is not necessary to stay overnight. The tour Jak talks about is a Buquebus offered tour. I have taken it, and it is a decent deal. You get a lot of the afternoon in an air conditioned bus. It includes a good lunch if you take the 10 peso extra lunch at Renata. It is not necessary. There is no connection between the tour and customs.

I just go to the Buquebus terminal at the end of Cordoba in Puerto Madero a day or two before the trip for the tickets. There is also a Buquebus office on Cordoba in Centro, near either Suipacha or Esmeralda. I take the fast Buquebus boat over at 11:00AM and return on the 5:30PM. It is worth the extra money for the fast boat. There is no need for Uruguay Pesos, you can use dollars or Argentine Pesos. Small change is easier in Argentine Pesos.

Re: BsAs-US-BsAs

I managed to use the return leg of a EZE-MIA-EZE ticket with Aeorolineas Argentinas by buying a ticket from BsAs to Montevideo for about $75.

A phone call from my travel agent revealed they only required you have a ticket out of Argentina. The ticket agent in Miami wasn't thrilled, but she consulted her supervisor and everything worked out.

YMMV, but it worked for me!

I've been to Argentina 8 times or so over the past couple of years. I've never been asked about a return ticket. Indeed, I wouldn't be able to produce one at the passport control window because my tickets are always electronic. I don't bother bringing a paper receipt.

For First World visitors, I think this subject belongs more in the realm of possible problems rather than actual ones.

-Uncle Otto

Lexton
03-05-04, 22:52
Otto, please read the other responses and pay attention. It is a serious problem. For airports, the problem occurs at check-in. I had this problem last year with a Costa Rica-USA-Costa Rica trip. When you try to check-in in the USA, they ask for a return ticket to board. I have never been asked for a return ticket in the airport customs of the foreign country on arrival. They appear to rely on the airline check when there is a requirement, even in the Caribbean, where they are serious about it. But the airlines seem to love and push the idea, even when it is not actually required. Guess why? It does not seem to be a serious requirement in Argentina.

I have been asked for the return ticket at the Costa Rica/Panama frontier crossing going CR-Pan-CR in both directions, where they do have a serious requirement in both countries. I have thought that I could solve that problem with 2 round trip tickets, CR-PAN-CR and PAN-CR-PAN. I would then have a return ticket in both directions, but the throw away tickets would cost $35. When I was there I kept a full price open return to USA, effectively loaning the airline $900.

The ticket to Montevideo idea is interesting. Usually the requirement is stated as "ongoing or return ticket". I have assumed that "ongoing" must be circular to the USA. A Buquebus ticket to Uruguay by slow boat should work as well as the Aerolineas ticket to Montevideo, much cheaper. But Capt Dave's response indicates I would have to fight with the airline agent to board. I could be there an hour.

For travel country to country, you can imagine how this can be a real mess without a fixed itinerary, requiring all open tickets to travel and/or throw-away return tickets, brutally expensive.

I checked with the Paraguay embassy and they say they will issue the visa here in BA with a ticket to "go and return" to Buenos Aires.

Any other experience? Jackson?

OttoGraham
03-06-04, 12:27
Lex, as you point out, this doesn't appear to be something originating with the Argentine government. By way of perspective I fly about 150,000 miles a year, most of it on United Airlines. As such, I'm the highest level frequent flyer with them, and they never give me any static about anything.

Perhaps rather than worry about this subject, the better answer is that you ought to fly another airline other than the one you have been? I know that if a ticket agent at the airport demanded a return ticket, I'd tell them that my departure was not yet fixed and that I'd be getting an onward ticket in-country. Plenty of Gringos and Europeans wander about, going from one country to the next as casual tourists, buying tickets as they go.

What airlines have you run into this on? (Need outgoing ticket) I've flown on a number of one way tickets, reward tickets and so forth with no return and have never had a problem.

Lexton
03-06-04, 22:06
To Argentina, Jaimito? In that case I might take my chances, and try to argue with the agent.

I haven't had a problem with Argentina, because I haven't tried. That is why I am asking about experiences. In Costa Rica I was probably flying Continental, but it shouldn't matter because CR and Panama have return/ongoing ticket requirements. This requirement is rather stupid these days, when a round trip ticket often costs less than a one-way, and the return is worthless if not used, and a max of 30 days stay. But they still have it. And certainly sell various useless tickets. It can really hurt you when you want to travel from abroad.

For Argentina, the USA //travel.state.gov site does not indicate a return ticket, but www.traveldocs.com does. But the USA site doesn't show a visa for Paraguay. I have seen other sites both ways. That is why I am asking. I may need to visit the USA soon. I am also thinking of traveling in Argentina and Paraguay. It appears the airlines are randomly requiring a return/ongoing ticket?

It is bad to get to the check-in in the USA and need a ticket, like Thomas0276. It is much worse to get to the check-in or frontier returning from Paraguay and need an airline ticket to return to the US from BA to enter Argentina. Although more likely they might make me buy a useless return ticket to Paraguay. Has anyone made this AR-Paraguay-AR trip? By air and/or bus?

03-07-04, 13:41
Lexton,

Be aware that there is (from Oct 2003) a requirement for a visa for Americans to enter Paraguay. You must have this visa prior to travel and it is for a set timeframe. You WILL be required to show tickets exiting the country for the issuance of the visa.

Be wary of hailing a taxi on the street gents. My Spanish teacher was abducted yesterday on her way to the school at 10 a.m. After she got into the cab, the driver made a sudden turn and another man with a gun jumped into the cab. They took her to a desolate location and told her if she screamed they would kill her. After cleaning out her purse, they made off with a whole 15 pesos and left her on a street corner without so much as phone change (at least she's alive).

From now on, I call Radio Taxi!

Abduction.

Yesterday, in front of Exedra and by midnight, Capt Dave and I saw a police operation in which two guys leaned handcuffed over the trunk lid of a taxi. Maybe related for such kind of crime.

It's good to let the taxidriver know that you are aware. For instance, by memorizing the last 3 digits of the license plate and by locking the doors after getting in.

Hope this helps,

Happy,

Was your teacher abducted by a radio taxi? Does she recall the name of the company? Where was she when she hailed the cab?

Taxis from the street can be dangerous. Especially those that are not radio taxis, but even then you are better off calling for a cab and following the advice given here to make a show of writing down the number of the cab and locking the door.

Sorry to hear about your teacher's misfortune.

Hey MGB,

No, I don't believe it was a Radio Taxi; she just hailed one off the street in Caballito (sp?), which I am told is otherwise a nice area. A couple days later, I was in a taxi on Libertador near the Recoleta when two guys on a motorcycle stopped next to a car at a stop light, reached inside an open window, and took something by force from the driver (watch, bag, cell phone, I am not sure....). Then they drove off on the motorcycle in the opposite direction. It happened around 11:30 in the morning. I guess one can't be too careful in this town! Anyway, thanks for your suggestions!

Happy,

Caballito is a very nice area. I would consider living there if I lived in BA full time.

Your motorcyle story reminds me of an incident I watched unfold near my apartment on the corner of Posadas and Libertad on a recent Sunday morning. An elderly couple strolling down Posadas is interrupted by a young thug who knocks the old guy down, takes his wallet and watch, jumps up and takes off to the corner where his buddy is waiting with a cycle....the cyclist takes off and the robber jumps on behind with the cycle in motion....the cops were on the scene in less than two minutes, but by then the cycle was long gone.

This is one of the nicest areas of Buenos Aires at a time usually considered to be safe. I suppose the moral is watch your back at all times.

Ushaia - land of fire. Mountains, beavers, beagle canal, straits of Magellan etc. Much bigger town. Museums etc. Specialty is king crab for seafood lovers. Wish I had spent more time here to go fly fishing. Some lame casinos - mostly slots.

Did not see any local action but not really in postion to look due to company.

Guy, make sure you know the total costs before you buy such a ticket. If you're going alone, there is usually a single supplement ranging from $100-$300. Plus taxes of $75-$150. Also keep in mind that these hotels may not be chica friendly, or may add a bit to your bill.

I think you can find a flight on United from LAX for about $693 plus tax (less than $800 total). You can get nice hotels for less than $50 per night, so a week would the same or less than the package deal you quoted. Also, you can rack up a lot of frequent flyer miles to EZE, so make sure you fly on an airline you get miles with.

Lan Chile has a ticket $50 cheaper than United, but the latest travel is the end of March.

I too used OffPeakTraveler last year and was very pleased with the service. It turned out that I had to re-schedule my vacation due to some scheduling problems and OffPeak was able to accommodate the change (for a reasonable fee) despite the fact that the flight was "non-cancellable" and I didn't buy travel insurance. The support at OffPeak were most helpful.

Hello everybody,

will be in BA the second week of April. This will be my third time mongering in BA. I can't wait. I will be staying in the Etoile form April 6-20.

Will anybody be there that might want to hit some of the clubs one night? Do mongers still meet up at the lobby of the Etoile each night?

If anybody want to get together message me through the WSG:s privat messageing system.

MM,

Clubs are open but earlier posts by for instance Uncle Otto who spent easter in BA some years ago state that action is much slower during a few days but far from entirely dead.

Actually I emailed Black and Madahos. They will stay open and girls will work during these days too. However I think it will be a bite harder to get your favorite escort chica during these days.

Probably during 9-11 April.

Hi all,

I am joyfully preparing for my upcoming, first journey to BA, which begins on May 6. After stumbling upon Moondog's Guide on another board, I thought about a trip to BA, and 2 seconds later I bought my ticket.

The postings on this forum are very informative and very interesting, and the variety of opinions is, no doubt, a result of the diversity of those reporting. This has greatly benefitted my planning process, although my eyes are still recovering from those first two weeks after I bought my ticket, in which I spent quite a bit of time pouring over all of the archives.

I have a question, and I hope everyone who has a thought will express it. I am coming from the U.S. and was wondering if there are any relatively inexpensive things that I can bring with me to give to the girls, and maybe to hotel staff, and others that assist me and make my stay better? I am not looking for the usual suspects here, like Victoria's Secret stuff, ect. Is there any type of candy, for instance, that may be unavailable, or too costly in Argentina? Things like this, and things that are easily packed, and ones that won't result in slower immigration times.

I have had the good fortune to have been able to do quite a bit of travelling for someone my age, and have always found that by respecting local customs and cultures, and by being kind to those who assist me, and even those who don't, a good time is always the result.

Also, I was wondering what sort of things I should keep stocked in my room to make the girls feel more relaxed. What do they like to drink, alcoholic and non, what type of snacks, ect. I have a junior suite at the Dohlmen Hotel, but I am not sure if there is a fridge in the room. It has a jacuzzi, however, and I assure you that I will keep it fully stocked!

Thanks in advance, and thanks to all that contribute their ideas, observations, and opinions on BA.

I do not think there is much of anything you can bring from the States that you cannot get here and at a better price. For example, I always keep on hand some handmade, glass colored, earrings for tips. You can buy them at flea markets in Recoleta on the weekends. About 3-4 pesos a pair with a bulk discount.

From my experiences the girls usually drink soft drinks, juice or Gatorade when they visit. Some will have a beer or a glass of champagne, but they are the exception. My impression is that they do not want to get drunk and not have control of the situation. That is fine with me because drunk women are not very attractive and can sometimes get very emotional and irrational.

When you arrive just go to a local mercado and get your drinks, chips and candy. Everything from Lays Potato Chips to M&M's can be had a a Disco or Norte. Oh and I also keep some Bon Bon type Ice cream on hand - they love sweets here. You are going to love it here.

Johnny O,

Last time I was in BA I happened to bring a lot of those breath strips, (I'm addicted to them). As it ends up, most of the girls I was with had never seen nor heard of them. All of them really like them so I was handing them out (entire packs, not individual strips) like craze. It definitely was a novelty and appreciated - not to mention the fresh breath factor.

Have fun, good luck.

Gifts to bring:
I fully agree on the breath stips. Argentines are not much into the spices but they appreciate the breath strips. One came to call it my drugs.
Also, on United, (probably other airlines too), they have gift packs of 5 mini perfumes for around $35. Bring a couple of them. Good for 10 rounds, or less if you feel the odd one worthy of 2 minis.

I have just come back from a trip in BA and had a great time. Not that I can really add anything new to the board, I would like to add a bit of info on Newport.

As informed by Jackson, Newport really a bar for freelances and old pros, so it is a real pot luck on who you choose.

Because of the lax control on the quality of girls who work at Newport, you could be getting a vamp how could not work anywhere else or a girl looking for a few bucks when the rent is due.

So if you do want to try Newport, visit the bar once or twice during the week and take a note of the girls working there. Then come back on Friday, eliminate the pros you saw on the weekdays and the girls circling around and you will be left this your nice semi-pro girls. They are usually the ones with their friends dancing and trying to having a good time.

The best time to go to Newport is at the end of the month/ start of the month as there are quite a few semi-pros who are looking for a few pesos to pay the bills.

Not an exact science, but hey so is life.

I stayed at the Dolman twice (thru Mayri). Great location in the microcenter, and short 2-3 peso taxi to Recoleta (or a 15 minute walk). 2 minute walk to Hook, Cattos, and Ness. Chica friendly, nice restauraunt, internet, pool. $50 including tax and some free dinners, again thru Mayri.

My regular room had a mini-bar, with very reasonable prices. Beer, champagne, wine, chocolates, etc.

My choice for gifts for the chicas - panties. Buy them in the mall or on the street, about $2 a pair. They love them and usually want to model them for my camera!

Thomaso276,

I agree with your comments 100%. On my last trip I stayed at one of Saints apartments and did exactly as you report. I stocked up on everything from soft drinks to snacks. My chicas never went without food or drink. It makes for a more pleasant experience to just have a few nibbles & drinks post coitus. In fact, the chica stays longer and is more inclined for longer sessions in TLN, making for a nicer GFE.

Friend, do what I did: read ALL the page pages of the forum, make notes and for specific questions ask the board or use the PM. I’m planning my fourth trip now based on the exceptional information form this board by trusted BA masters as well as lessons learned from my own trips to BA.

As for meeting mongers, the AMA is your best bet, see relevant board, as well as a general request on the board.

I’m not going to comment on the Argentina or Brazil comparison: each is unique and excellent both chica and travel wise. I would add however that BA is more like any city in Europe than any city in Brazil is.

Viagra (Sildenafil), Cialis, and pharmacies:

Here's my experience with buying the above. Upon arrival, Roxana made a very wise suggestion as to why and where these needed to be obtained.

The pharmacy at Puerto Madera, Alicia Moreau de Justo 146 (at the same building that houses the previously reviewed Sorrento restaurant) supplied the following witout any Rx hassles:

Lumix (Sildenafil) 4 tablets of 100 mg each at $91.06 AR. This was the same original Viagra blue tablet with "Pfeizer" marked on it, packaged by a subsidiary of Pfeizer in Argentina. I think the "real" generic is much cheaper.
Cialis (Tadalafil-no generics so far) 20mg, 4 tablets, at $119.59 AR

Just before leaving, I bought another Rx medicine (unrelated) at the local mom and pop pharmacy at Laprida 2128. It was about 15% cheaper for the same Identical name brand medicine obtained earlier. Again, no Rx hassles. One of you mongers please check into the price of generic Sildenafil from this pharmacy, next time the need "arises".

I am planning my first trip to BA, arriving around the 17th of April. This site has been of incredible value, for planning my trip. I learn from the problems that you have had, and take note of all the good adwise here.

I do have to go to Montevideo for business though, during my stay in BA. Can anyone recomend a lokal travel agency, from where I can by a ticket ?

The travel agencies here (I'm from Denmark by the way), charge around 250 USD - for a 50 min. flight! They recomend that I find a lokal agency, and by the ticket there.

I can't wait to hit BA, and will of course inform you all of my (hopefully) excellent experiences...

Two good courses are at Jockey Club and Hurlingham Club. Jockey is nearer to city centre. They are both membership clubs but may have facilities for guests who are not members. Worth asking. After all, as a monger you must be used to hole in one !!!

So much: Moondog's info is correct, she is working on her own now, and the contact info is also correct.

I can add, that she again has access to a travel agency's full service, so she can get everything as before: hotels, airline / boat tickets, whatever. Don't stop using her services! She also will probably soon have her own website.

There's been some talk in the 2004 Reports section recently about interest rates on Argentinean bank accounts and CDs. It belongs here and not there, so I will respond here.

You guys need to realize that the stated or nominal interest rate means almost nothing. What is important is the real or inflation-adjusted interest rate. One guy wrote about getting 22% or something like that in Brazil. Well, their inflation is very high. You can't make this type of comparison.

If a US CD pays 2% and inflation is 1%, your actual yield in terms of purchasing power is approximately 1%. I say approximately because it is really (1.02/1.01) - 1.0 which is a bit less than 1%. And, if you can get 7% on an Argentinean CD or bank account, and the inflation rate is say 9%, then your real return is negative! If the inflation rate were 4%, your real yield is (1.07/1.04) - 1.0, or just a shade less than 3%.

The only thing that matters is the yield AFTER taxes and AFTER inflation. That is what you can eat, drink, or smoke. And since different currencies are subject to different inflation rates, comparing rates on a peso account with rates on a dollar account is just a big waste of time.

Hope that helps.

General Info:

Mickey mouse and other golfers:

The muni course in the middle of BA is a nice course and incredibly cheap, 20 peso for 18 daytime or 10 peso for 18 after 4:00PM. Not sure about carts to haul your big butt around but there are
electric push carts to take the strain of the bag off your shoulder

If you want an incredible course try LLAO LLAO outside of Bariloche. Its 70 peso for 9 or 100 for 18.
The Bariloche town bus will take you out there for 1 peso and drop you off at the fantastic hotel.

The course is drop dead beautiful and after every shot you will look at the scenery and etch it into memory

If you need a driving range workout, go to the range in BA located
at the end of Salguero and Costa Rena. It has a nice chip and putt
practice area and plenty of hitting boxes at the range.

Plan to be in BA in Nov. and will PM you to see if we can put a game together.

And late on his post too!

A quick apology to board members for being remiss on the déjà vu post. You see, friends, Knuckhead has been in a state of Melancholy since his return. He is converting everything back to Pesos (and naturally, to girl-hours) and is therefore utterly unable to re-assimilate. He doesn't understand why few hours of parking his car downtown can add up to 60 "Pesos", which conveniently ends up being the same as half an hour of "parking" something much closer and dearer to him with one of the apartment girls. He screams when the tab for his very modest lunch can buy him an hour with Agustina from Clarin. He cries with disbelief when an oil change for his car ends up being more expensive than getting an hour-long "oil change" for himself with Irina. http://www.wsgforum.com/vforum/attachment.php? S=&postid=192513

And, speaking of Irina: As if being in the above state of mind was not enough to drive Knuckhead to complete insanity, he now finds out that his "virginal" Irina was not so "virginal", after all. Yes, indeed, it turns out that Knuckhead was NOT the "test subject" for this girl, as he had foolishly imagined previously. To make matters worse, the "villain" getting to her prior to Knuckhead was not just any monger, but a monger extraordinaire, one whose mere display of his "member" at Santa Fe was enough to send Barbara running for cover (no pun), shivering. No my friends, I will not tell you who this monger extraordinaire, too big for Santa Fe, was! ; )

To keep from crying his heart out, to dull his pain, and to transition back into "prisoner" mode, Knuckhead finally broke his short-lived celibacy today by visiting an AMP. Yes, I know, don't laugh as you may yourself get there too, one day. Suffices to say that after spending 459. 20 "Pesos", he came out crying even more than he was when he went in. Alas, 10 days ago the same amount bought him not one hour, but two hours of bliss with not one, but two genuinely bisexual beauties in a naughty threesome. Ironically, he was communicating much better with Cecilia and Bane in his broken Spansih than he could today with this AMP girl in English. Since Knuckhead does not (yet) speak any Korean, the interactions were limited to pre-recorded, standardized, mamasan-approved, repetitious messages of "YU SHHHHeksy Man".

A more useful post, déjà vu, will follow in short order in 2004 reports section.

Further to Mr R Head's comments on real returns - another reason why people should not just compare returns from country to country (even real returns) is due to the exchange rate risk. If real returns in one country are far more attractive, you can only consider investing if the deposits are in the same currency in both countries i.e. if they are both in dollars.

For example, the Argentine peso may reduce in value against the US dollar and more than wipe out any differential advantage in real returns.

Perhaps I should also mention the risk in putting your money in an Argentine bank or financial instrument. Of course, we all know that the banks in Argentina have never messed with anyone's dollar accounts.

MeGustaBoliches
04-07-04, 21:13
Yeah, well, all this talk about foreign investing is very nice but what I want to know is why is the &%$*dollar suddenly slipping? Have you noticed that you don't get as much bang for your buck lately? Down from 3,00 to 2.79 per dollar....

Poor Knuckhead. By the time he is paroled from sex prison nookie will cost less from a Korean AMP in the US than from a cutie from Santa Fe. LIfe is cruel.

JustGotBack
04-08-04, 02:35
How about foreign banks that keep all your money in dollars? I noticed that banks in Costa Rica have some outrageously high interest rate for colonnes, like 20%. But if you want to keep your money in dollars, it's 7%. That's still mighty high compared to the US and there isn't any exchange or inflation concerns. No FDIC though.

Dickhead
04-08-04, 14:26
Exchange rate risk is built into the nominal interest rate, at least in theory. The market may, of course, be overstating or understating this risk, just as they may be overstating or understating default risk. Of course, the market's estimating of the exchange rate risk is based on the general propensity of the currency to depreciate, rather than estimations of how it would move against any particular currency.

However, for someone who is living in Argentina and intends to spend the pesos received upon maturity, it is inflation and not exchange rate risk that is paramount.

JackDaniels
04-08-04, 19:41
Ok, I agree with Mr Head that in theory, the nominal rate reflects the exchange rate risk (supply and demand for money) but I would say that in an economy like Argentina, a largely closed economy, the nominal interest rate does not reflect the exchange rate. Further, I would argue that the exchange rates are far more volatile than interest rates - recent British Pound and US dollar rates and interest rates are a good example.

For example, the exchange rate could move 10% very easily but this will never be reflected in the differential in interest rates.

I think Mr Head and I should meet in BsAs to discuss this further having sent the chicas away :)

Cheers.

Dickhead
04-09-04, 09:59
I'll be there next month with no plans to leave. I agree that exchange rates are typically more volatile than interest rates. I also think that most governments, in most cases, can influence interest rates more effectively than they can influence exchange rates, at least in the short run. The interaction between exchange rates and interest rates is a fascinating subject that unfortunately has very little to do with pussy.

I noticed a few reports referring to Tango. Down in San Telmo, there is a dinner/Tango which changes every few months called El Viejo Almacen which is enjoyable. Tangos are a nice venue to take the Chica, (many get teary-eyed), if you have an evening with a non-clock watcher.

On another Tango note, watching 60 minutes a few months ago, old Sr. TangoAmerica himself, Duval, was bringing the camera crews around Recoleta. He pointed up to the Black sign proclaiming that 'he has heard' that some of the nicest looking Portenas in the city hang out here in the evening, but he did not have personal experience. Right. Anyway, if you were ever thinking of buying one of those Black or Newport T-shirts to bring home, you better think twice as TV has a long reach.

NO LUCK WITH ROXANA….

I am sorry if I am offending anyone here, but I feel that I need to share this information. As Noticed before, I was only in BA for four days, so I made a tight schedule, as there was a lot of chickas I wanted to see.

24 hours before my arrival I sent Roxana a list of 9 girls, mostly from Platynum, and escortbaires. I had no specific demands like BBBJ. Was expecting to pay 150 psesos per hour.

I wanted Roxana to make 2 appointments on Sunday at 1 pm and at 7 pm. And 2 appointments on Monday at 1 pm and at 7 pm.

Sunday at 1 pm. An appointment with Analhia from Platynum – 200 pesos + 20 taxi. She did not show.

Sunday at 7 pm. No appointment arranged

Monday at 1 pm. No appointment arranged

Monday at 7 pm. An appointment with Cloe from Platynum 200 pesos + 30 taxi. The girl that was 45 minutes late, was not Cloe. I sent her off with 10 pesos for taxi.

As you see, Roxana did not provide me with one single girl, out of 9 possible, and 4 different possible times. (I know that many girls do not work on sundays though)

The problem is, that I expected Roxana to set me up with a girl at the wished times. And by the time she informed me that it was not possible, I was to late for me to arrange something my self. So I missed out on some nice action on this account.

Second both the girls that she arranged was 200 pesos/1 hour. Reading the forum, most of you pay only 150. I also expected Roxana to make good prices for us. Especially because me abla espaniol, mucho pucito.

I may also add, that I managed my self to make an appointment with my self, for Tuesday at 1 pm. The price was 200 pesos and no taxi money.

I made this post, if other of you mongers have little time and many chickas to see. You might loose some important time, waiting for girls, which is never coming….

Jonas - I don't know that you can expect someone to set up a large itenerary on a short notice. If you only are looking for 150 peso girls you need to let Roxana know it.

Roxana doesn't really bargain, per se, but takes the girls at their "normal" pricing. I don't think you fully understood her service. You'd probably have been much better off to head off to Excedra or Orleans during the day and pull a girl for 100-150 pesos.

Some of the girls can be flakey, Roxana doesn't round them up with a cattle prod. Some girls are available one week, and not the other.

I think you really needed to RTFF. There is so much info here that to completely rely on one person is ludicrous.

In the future if you're there for short time, check out the apartments, Excedra and Orleans in the daytime and early evening. Knowing spanish or not doesn't affect you much in the clubs. I've seen guys who know 3 words of spanish negotiate with no problem.

Andres has posted some great spanish lessons here, so you should do some research yourself. I've gone on the Roxana tour and had her book one Clarin date with me before. I've had so much more fun finding the girls and negotiating with them myself though.

Exon, actually he wasn't a fucking idiot. He was a barely fucking idiot. :) Imagine only having one girl in BA in 4 days?

Jaimito:

I kind of had the feeling that my post would piss someone off here...

I DID informed Roxana that I was looking for the price of 150. The 2 girls she provided she qouted 200 and I accepted.

I did check the forum, and that was maybee the problem - In all of the posts about Roxanas services, not one mentioned that it could be a miss. Another reason for posting mine!

And Roxanas appointments where only to fill my daytime, Obviosly my posts on "trip reports" has not yet been posted. But I got the chicks from Orleans, New Port, Affaire, Black and others, So do not worry, I got my share during my stay in BA. I maybee an Idiot, but thinking that I only did one girl in 4 days... what does that make you ???

Additionally, I meet up with a fellow monger from this forum, and we hit the clubs. He did warn me, that someone might get pissed, if I posted this. But he absolutly ment that it was relevant.

NO ABLA ESPANIOL?

Collection alot of information on this forum, I was quite nervous before hitting BA for the first time. My spanish is very limited, almost non existing = problems and high prices... I was thinking.

I got quite surprised though. After 4 days, with 8 chicks, I had no problems comunicating with them. Especially at the clubs, it was possible to make some kind of conversation with the hotties I liked. Some even had a decent english.

According to the price discussions here, I also know I got fair prices. (se posts on "trip reports")

So to you newbies, do not worry if you spanish is bad, it works fine anyway!

I agree with Exon123.

I am 13 days away from my first visit to BA and have been e-mailing Roxanna since I first planned my trip, over two months ago. She has been very helpful in giving me advice, and I cannot wait to meet her.

If you actually read about her services, I think she even tells you that 5 days advance is needed to ensure that she can get who you want, and I think it also says that a lot of girls don't work on Sundays.

If [Deleted by Admin] would have spent 5 minutes reading about her services, he could have avoided looking like an [Deleted by Admin]. I have not even set foot in BA yet, and based on the attention and responses she has given my e-mails, I feel I can whole-heartedly recommend her, and if any of my requests go unfulfilled, or if a girl does not show up, Hook, Ness, Cattos, 921 Suipacha, ect., ect., ect. are right across the street from my hotel.

[Deleted by Admin] , I mean Jonas, before you flame someone, especially someone held in such high regard by so many veterans on this board, [Deleted by Admin] and do your homework!

I reported that in my trip to BA in December Roxana provided excellent service for me on only four hours notice. I called her at 3pm and she set up an appointment for me with my requested girl, for my requested time of 7pm.

What disturbs me about this discussion (and I have seen it occur earlier) is that as soon as someone reports on less than ideal services from any of the providers associated with WSG, a torrent of flaming posts instantly appears.

I received a PM from a frequent-posting senior member on this board who was "afraid" to report a less than favorable experience he had with one of the providers for fear of public humiliation.

The worst thing that could happen to this board is for it to become a shill for the commercial providers to it.

Allow both positive and negative posts to prevail and the truth will come out. It is exactly the preponderance of the positive postings that resulted in JF's expectations to become as high as they did.

I don't think that there is a problem with a real cogent message about problems you've had. However, when someone posts half the story, leaving out critical details it makes you think the poster hasn't done any research.

I think Roxana has helped a lot of newbies or people with spanish difficulties book chicas. I'm not a cheerleader for her, but think she's okay and does a genuine service.

I'm certainly glad that Jonas got to meet some nice BA girls. Since I'm not a mind reader, it's hard to tell how many sessions someone has had when they only mention 4 appointments. It seemed like you were crying and blaming Roxana that you only got one appointment, that you arranged yourself.

Perhaps you'd like to show me where in your post you mentioned other adventures. I'd also suggest working on your messages a bit. I would guess that English isn't your first language, so I won't be too harsh on such statements as, "I may also add, that I managed my self to make an appointment with my self, for Tuesday at 1 pm. The price was 200 pesos and no taxi money."

This statement sounds like you had a date with yourself. I don't think this usually costs any money! :)

BA is a great place, and all the guys in town are usually a joy to be with. Hopefully next time you'll get more time and have more time to explore.

DfB and Boxing:

Thanks for the support, it was very welcome after the attacks from fellow mongers.

Johnny O:

Thank you for your serious and mature comment. It was very nice to hear the comments from someone who actually have so much experience to base the comments on.

Maybee you should not throw the rocks: "I think she even tells you that 5 days advance is needed to ensure that she can get who you want". If you did YOUR homework Roxana says 48-24 hours advance. And that is what she got from me. Sorry.

Jaimito,

Sorry for the bad english, it is not my first language, but I should do better. Was quite exited about posting my reports, so maybe it all was made a little to fast!

About the date with my self, I can tell you 200 pesos is a BARGIN for me. :-)

If you would like to read more of my adventures, the first ones are already posted under "Trip Reports 2004". The rest will follow soon.

Do not worry, I WILL be back, with more time to enjoy life (and women) in BA. Sorry we got off on the wrong foot, I enjoy reading your reports, and think it could be a blast to hit the clubs with you.

I might have been misunderstood: I was not trying to put down Roxana, I have nothing against her personally or her services. But in fact, she did NOT provide the service I expected, and I think other mongers should have the right to know this.

I don't agree with Jonas' opinion at all. That said, I also think that he doesn't need to be beaten about the head and shoulders for having given his opinion. I think the very ridiculousness of his disappointment (not having Rox get him a series of 9 discounted appointments with only 24 hours advance notice) undercuts his opinion. If somebody emailed her instructions (without money being forwarded in advance?), I don't see how they can expect her not only to jump through those 9 hoops, but also to guarantee the trixies show up as well. I also know Rox has always said she is a translator and arranger, not a negotiator of the lowest price for poon.

Personally, I've had nothing but wonderful experiences with Rox. My suggestion is that if you want to use her services for advance planning, give her at least a week's advance notice as well as a deposit toward her fee. But I think you'd be better off just arranging to meet her on your first day in Buenos Aires and then working out details face-to-face. A LOT less work for both of you and more immediate opportunity for a favorable result.

OK Exon has to post on this matter. Argentina admits to 20% unemployment , the whisper number is more like 25%. My point being is if you have a job in Argentina thats big time and your lucky. Why do you think there are so many working girls in Buenos Aires ? Well they need the money thats easy enough. Now lets think about this for a moment. Roxana makes phone calls for us arrangeing apointments so we as Mongers can get laid because we can't speak the language. She also takes us on tours and shows us around the city. Roxana charges $10 USD per appointment regardless of how many calls are envolved. Now that $10 USD in reality is really $30 to Roxana for as we know the devaluation is almost 3 to 1. So its very assumeable that Roxana averages 3 to 4 appointments a day average, maybe more as Roxana is wise enough not to disclose the number. Well thats a hundred to a hundred and twenty bucks a day in Roxana's world, damn good money in Argentina. So the bottom line at what Im driving at is Roxana's creditability is her stock and trade. If her phone does not ring she's out of a job and there are no jobs. So its in Roxana's very best interest to do the very best job she can as thats how she makes a living. This isn't Sport Fucking for Roxana, she's putting food on the table its a job. Roxana knows all of the above and she try's her very best to satisfy each and everyone of us. Now when some Monger picks out some internet Chica's with 24 hour notice having never met them before wanting $150 peso pussy hes out of line if Roxana can't deliver. Futhermore Roxana's services are so valuable to me Ive sent Mickey Mouse money to give to Roxana to pay her for her efforts on a deal shes working on for me. ---- Exon

Dear WSG members & fellow lurkers,

The ongoing flame seen below in this thread is precisely the reason why I have chosen not to, and probably never will, contribute any of my 5+ years experience of living & mongering in this wonderful city to the forum.

To a small percentage of you regular Bs.As. guys out there (no names mentioned), perhaps you should try to chill out just a little with some of the new posters reports, and not take everything quite so seriously/personally. Yes, I agree that we all have friends here that we don't want to be seen or cast in a bad light, but to be most beneficial to the forum we still need to know the bad stuff together with all the good.

There is a load of very accurate and helpful information to be found within this board, and I send Snr. Jackson my sincere thanks for the arduous task of maintaining this site and the wealth of information that is to be found here. However, there are also a lot of experiences (negative) that have not been brought to light for fear of retribution, of the likes we see below.

I am of the understanding that this forum was for the exchange of information, then please I ask you to take the rough with the smooth, and continue to share all...

To those that may feel offended by this post, please don't waste your time flaming me.

Good luck, stay safe, and most importantly happy mongering to all...

Re Roxana - I've been to BA 5 times now and I'm officially DONE with ever making another call to a chica to set up a date for me!!!! DONE! Roxana's my OFFICIAL date maker now since she did such an awesome job for me last year - her batting average was nearly perfect setting up dates with the chicas I requested.

I speak really good Spanish and have no problem making my own appointments but there's so much more to it than speaking the language - there are the countless calls and follow-ups that Roxana relieves you of having to do so you can ENJOY your time in one of the great cities of the world - you know, sit back and have a cafe at an outdoor cafe, have a great steak at an outdoor restaurant, stroll along the great avenues window shopping and admiring the awesome Portenas, play a round of golf - all without having your cell phone glued to your head.

And lastly, I've said it before and I'll say it again, Roxana's personable, reliable and CUTE!!! So give yourself a break fellas, call Roxana and go out and have a nice ensalada mixta and juicy lomo and while you're at it buy a bottle of Luigi Bosca Malbec Reserva and quit your cheesing. DownBA

Exon Reporting : I'd like to make one final comment on this Roxana matter. We've all at one time or another visited the escort website " PLATYNUM ". You will notice that along with the vitals on each girl there is a little piece stating " A Coordinar/To Arrange ". Well what the Hell do you think Roxana is anyway, chopped liver, no she's a Corrdinar. Now heres my point, Down BA, posted under me states he speaks " really good Spanish ". He also states he'd rather use Roxana to arrange his dates. Well I believe that Roxana adds creditability to us mongers because she's a woman. And women talk differently to each other than men do. Its as simple as that. The phone rings the girl answers it and its a womans voice that makes the deal not some horny Monger that can't speak the language asking do you do "Completo". This is just the way its done Mongers, its part of the culture. You Newbies and guys that are thinking about a trip down to BA would be well advised to contact Roxana to do your business. --------- Exon

Dickhead
04-23-04, 18:45
Well, my Spanish is just okay. I would describe it as serviceable. Having said that, I would say that if your Spanish is at least serviceable, you will learn more about the culture by not using anyone to arrange your appointments. This is not a comment on the quality of Roxana's services. It is just a contrasting opinion that you will learn more, faster, by attending the school of hard knocks. I graduated summa cum laude from that particular institution.

I will say that my point of view may make particular sense if you are planning on being a repeat visitor, and may make less sense if you are only in BA for a short period and are very pressed for time.

Also I think that Exon's initial response to Jonas was rude and uncalled for, and I think that Jaimito should not have made fun of Jonas' English when it is obviously not his first language (as JC himself pointed out). As my father once told me, "Never make fun of someone with an accent; they probably know more languages than you do."

There should be no censorship on this board, whether it is censorship by censureship or otherwise, as long as the posters are following Jackson's rules. Just one Dickhead's opinion.

OK here is my two centavos worth on the Roxanna thread:

Roxanna has done well both on long term arrangements (one week of planning) and the spur of the moment (1 hour of notification) but in each case the final results did not equal my first request. Not to say that the results were not excellant, as they were.

But in every case I had told Rox what I was interestd in and she made an effort to meet my requirements, but due to reasons beyond her control some changes had to be accommodated (changes in meeting times, chica choices, length of stay and prices), some to my benefit and some where I had to compromise a little.

The point being flexabilty and communication go a long way to getting good results!

As the "commodity" that is being "negotiated" is by nature unreliable, our expectations of the results should be reasonable.

I've been stood up by too many working girls to sweat over it. There are always more around the corner, block, city, club, bar, boliche, cafe, website, apartment ....

In other words, it does not pay to be anal retentive in this game :)

I want to apologize to Jonus Fun for the name-calling I did, in regard to his starting the negative thread on Roxanna. I agree that everyone is entitled to freely express their opinion, which is what I did, and I admit I did not give it enough thought.

I took offense to his post, which I interpreted as him saying that it was her fault that he had a bad time.I don't have illusions that Roxanna has magical powers, nor do I believe that if my plans do not always work out that it will be because she did not try hard enough. She has already warned me of the things that happenned to Jonus Fun.

Roxana is one of the most conscientous and honest people I have ever met. I guarantee you she gave 110% effort to locate the girls you requested. Keep in mind these girls are primarily evening workers so trying to get a hold of them on short notice during the day is difficult. They could be sleeping, running errands, working a day job, or even on vacation.

Otto states " I think the very ridiculousness of his disappointment (not having Rox get him a series of 9 discounted appointments with only 24 hours advance notice) undercuts his opinion.

Why do you use the word discounted? Otto even on Jackson's website the women are listed at 150 Pesos. I see how you are using word play to discredit Jonas. Very sad.
She does state 48-24 hours or did you forget this point.

Otto states "If somebody emailed her instructions (without money being forwarded in advance?), I don't see how they can expect her not only to jump through those 9 hoops, but also to guarantee the trixies show up as well.

Where does it say that Rox needs the money up front for her appointments?????? Please show me a link or maybe I should suggest you RTFF. She should work hard for those 10 US dollars. 10 US is a lot of money for Argentinans. Do you think it takes her a total of more than 1 hour to call one girl. Remember it is 10 US per appointment. So 9 girl would be 90 US dollars.

Otto states "Personally, I've had nothing but wonderful experiences with Rox."

The trouble is you are taking this too personal.
Let other people have opinions.

The world will not end. It only ends when people are not allowed to speak their mind.

Jaimito Cartero stated "I'd also suggest working on your messages a bit. I would guess that English isn't your first language, so I won't be too harsh on such statements as, "I may also add, that I managed my self to make an appointment with my self, for Tuesday at 1 pm. Briefly, you cannot expect to take advantage of the forum and at the same time provide excuses for not posting. If you have a long-time experience on mongering in BA, it would be convenient for us to share your data. If all of us took your attitude, nobody would post.

To forum members:

I know that many of you have high regards respect to Roxana, both as a facilitation service provider as as a person. Said that, please take into account that:

- As human beings, facilitators and customers can have different expectations and different ways to assess the service level. That is, take a criticism just as a point of view regading an experience, not as a revealed truth.

- Criticising the quality of some services doesn't mean to criticising a person. This is important to avoid confrontations revolving opinions about Roxana, Maria or any other person.

Trip General Info:

For Newbies:

1. The use of “effectivo” for cash.

2. The use of “sh” for LL as in calle pronounced cashe (you are not prepared for this) words that you know, you will not recognize at first.

3. Most people will not understand LL as “ye.

4. Usted is understood but not well received.

5. The earlier the “appointment” the more likely the no-show.

6. Practice conversations with living people before you go.

7. Cab drivers are happy with .50 to a peso tip

8. On holidays and weekends many businesses run out of change “cambio”. I would save my small bills and peso coins. Before going out I would load a pocket with 5 peso notes for taxi money and a few peso coins for the various “propina” needs.

9. Most newer electronics are dual voltage so you only need a plug adapter (about 5 pesos for a duplex adapter that will accommodate both US and Argentinean plugs).

10. The security guard at your apartment is a great asset. Notice the brand he smokes (they all smoke) and get him some at the beginning. His help can be vital.

11. Get the number for radio cab and keep it handy. It is 4 Am and you want to get rid of your date. Radio cab will buzz you when they are there. Very handy.

12. ATM’s are best; traveler’s checks are almost useless (had to cash at American Express, long lines but some really cute customer service representatives!)

13. Flowers are cheap, they brighten the room, they smell great, and they help ease the tension of a first date. (Bad men don’t buy flowers).

14. Something to drink, I found orange Fanta to be the most popular, following plain water. Popsicle quenches they thirst and can lead to some very nasty games. Seems most women I met had a sweet tooth once they were comfortable, chocolate seemed to fill the bill.

15. I kept a package of diaper wipes near the bed perfect for a quick wipe up, wrap the condom, general removal of contamination.

16. Go to an AMA meeting, make a friend, and donate to the Charity.

This has been my 2 pesos worth of advice.

I used Roxana for an appt. and it didn’t work out BUT she told me that she had never seen this girl and that she knew nothing about her. Roxana followed up the next day and got the “story” and she offered to set me up with a more reliable provider. I am happy with her level of service and would not hesitate to use her again.

The guys I met were great. EZE, Flexable Horn, Marcos, El Aleman, El Jefe, Andres, The artist formally known as Stoly, Capt Dave and his lovely first mate, others I can’t remember or didn’t realize whom they were.

Boxing, go back and read what I said right at the begining of my last post. Jonas is perfectly entitled to post his opinion, and shouldn't be attacked for simply giving it. Of all people, I'm NOT taking this personally.

That said, Roxana has provided too great of service to people I know for me to have a negative opinion of her.

You can imagine it is easy - too easy - for a keyboard romeo to pick out a series of desired appointments, email them to Roxana on 24 hours notice (without payment), and then be disappointed when those appointments aren't finalized.

I run a business too, and if I jumped at every request I got over the internet or by voicemail from unknown potential clients, I'd have time for little other than fulfilling the wishes of people who will never pay one thin dime for my services.

I think my initial advice was sound: if you want Rox to do a bang-up job for you, pay her a sum in advance, and give her a week's advance notice (we're not talking about a huge amount of money here, maybe 100 bucks). Or better yet, arrange to meet her on the first day of your visit to make face-to-face arrangements. While there is no guarantee of 100% satisfaction in every circumstance, all these guys other than me can't be wrong.

-Uncle Otto

P.S. This is obviously a customer-service oriented business. A perfect example of how one can be a satisfied client was reflected by Exon123. Some months ago, I visited BsAs on my own. When he learned of my imending visit, 123 asked me to give Rox 20 bucks for a favor she'd done for him. Which I happily did. Now, does it surprise you that Rox takes care of 123's requests when made, and obviously without any problems? Little things like paying the bill without being nagged and leaving a nice tip when you're happy will work wonders.

If you have any doubt, ask the waiters at Parrillon de Recoleta or Estilo Campo what they think about ol' Exon. :D :D :D When he walks in you'd think it was the President of Argentina arriving. They pour him a Beefeater without his having to ask and are genuinely happy to see him. Why? He consistently shows his appreciation for the extra effort they give him, and not just with a well-placed 20 peso banknote.

My post about Jonas' english was not meant to belittle him in any way, but to point out an error. I have the utmost respect for anyone who posts in a second or third language. My spanish is passable, but I'd be laughed at contantly if I tried to post in it.

I'm always happy to see a new poster add to the section. While my post to Jonas may have been mildy chastising, it was meant to help him communicate better about his experiences. I think Exon's response was over the top, and unworthy of even a new poster.

Some will treat Roxana as a sacred calf and will let no negative remarks fall on her without bloodshed. I take the middle ground here, and say that if she works for you great, if not, don't use her. She is doing it as a business and is there to make money. I really think that if you let her handle everything you're missing out on communicating with the local people. You'll never learn to communicate well if you only let other people do it for you. Jump in the water at the deep end sometime.

As for El Centro's contention that he'll never post because of the attacks on Jonas, this is just ridiculous. I'd say that 5 percent or less of WSG members actually contribute in the first place. Sure, some of them are just whacking off to the pictures in the first place, so you don't need that report.

If you learn something from the WSG, then you should support it in some way. Post a report, donate some money to the charity, or something. If you don't contribute anything, then you're just a leach. Some of the most memorable girls I've met around the world have been recommended through WSG members. I take the time to take pictures, crop and resize them, and give some detailed reports to help others who would be interested in the same women.

I used to only post a few reports a year, but I got so much from the WSG that I just felt I had to give back something. The only way that everyone can get the full benefit is by sharing details. I think it's rather shameful about all the hiding of best chicas, best locations by some on here. I mean, I understand that you may not want your poor girl to get reamed out before you come back, but it seems rather contrary to the whole WSG brotherhood.

Following are parts of verbatim extracts from a judge's sentence in courts regarding the case C. 22269 - "FRANCO, Francisco s/ procesamiento" - CNCRIM Y CORREC DE LA CAPITAL FEDERAL - Sala I - 17/03/2004 (a Police bust at the boliche Partenaire, a long time ago)

------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Es oportuno señalar que es criterio de esta Sala que el simple
ejercicio de la prostitución por parte de una mujer u ******, en
forma individual e independiente, no constituye delito, a diferencia

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The first paragraph clearly states that INDEPENDENTLY-RUN PROSTITUTION IS NOT A CRIME IN ARGENTINA (since the CNCRIM Is the National Chamber of Crime, their sentences apply to the whole territory).

The second paragraph states that sexually exploiting people can carry imprisonment of up to 3 years and/or huge fines, as of Bill 12331, article 17.

Hope this helps,

Thank you Andres,

Here's a quick translation of the statute in question.

"It is appropriate to point out that in the opinion of this Court, for a woman or man to merely engage in prostitution acts, as an individual or a freelancer, is not a crime, as opposed to the exploitation of prostitution by those who run or manage those places where such activities are carried out or made available."

"The following finding has been reached, that the establishment identified as "Partenaire", located on Santa Fe street ...,in the basement of "Rustique" mall, in this city, functioned during the time of the investigation as a brothel, where individuals who engaged in prostitution had to surrender about 50 per cent of monies collected, which they received as payment for sexual services, to those in charge of the locale. This situation, in the judgment of this court, is defined as the contemptible acts envisaged by section 17 of statute 12.331, where it is stated that "anyone who keeps, manages or runs, openly or secretly, a brothel, shall receive a fine, in pesos ...."

"For repeat offenders, incarceration from one to three years shall be imposed... "."

I am heading to Rio for longer, but couldn't pass up the exchange rate, the food, and the sex tryout in Argentina.

Is that too short of a stay to get an apartment? Is there a hotel I can get that lets girls up? I am thinking of the escort route, plus the clubs and massage places, should I rent a cell phone like I am going to do in Rio?

Exon,
I was told by my Spanish teacher in Buenos Aires that since the devaluation it's impossible to get a visa to travel to the U.S. unless one has a job in Argentina, pays taxes, and owns property. Apparently the U.S. wants insurance that visitors will return to Argentina. If you discover otherwise, I'm sure many people would like to know!

Hi everyone,

I had to change my name to the Waterboy. It seems the girls were complaining to management about me. In fact the owner of Affaire had Guiermoe give me a talking too about my posts. I was warned not to tell you the price of entering, how much the girls will take etc. You can read my previous reports. Don’t let them charge you 30ps to get in when 20 or nothing will do.

I just want to post a head up on some information I learned in April. As previously reported the apartment on 973 Esmeralda 9E has been closed down by the police. The girls who worked their told the mother of an underage girl was working there complained. The two patronas were arrested and later deported back to Peru. The girls took the clothes and stuff and have moved to a new place around the corner. The new address is calle Paraguay 754 apartment 3c . The description of the girls follows:

The first girl is Melanie a heavy set Paraguayan girl she takes it in the ass for a few extra pesos gives good BBJ.

The second girl is Kathy. I think that’s her name. She has glasses, tight pussy, and no bbj all covered.

The third girl is Jahel (web site Platinum) a tiny Paraguayan girl. What ever you have she can take and she seems stand offish. Don’t be fooled she is good sex. Cbj.

Last but not least is Sabrina. I met her in the other apartment a year ago and she did not know anything. Now she give a great bareback blow job. She knows how to fuck. She has a great attitude of an unspoiled child. She is the best of the lot.

I liked all the girls here. They are kind and friendly with great attitudes. You can’t go wrong with anyone of the girls.

One of my brothers that visited Cuba this year shortly thereafter received a letter from the Dept. of the Treasury which directed him to remit a $7500 fine. It seems the Bush administration is stepping up enforcement of the travel ban on Cuba and Mexicana airlines has agreed to share passenger lists.

I guess this seems minor in comparison to the bigger issues, but as you aptly pointed out, this is not a political forum.

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me something about the 9th of July holiday in Bs As? This comes on a Friday this year, and I'll be arriving the day before.

Since I'll only have one weekend in the country, I am wondering if nightlife will be quieter that weekend because people leave the city for the long weekend. Also is there anything special going on to celebrate this holiday?

Dickhead
05-31-04, 03:48
9 July is the Argentinean equivalent of July 4 in the US, the anniversary of their independence from Spain in I want to say 1820. It is a blast. All 23 provinces are represented in their native garb and food dishes typical of each province are available. There is a massive parade.

While there are some traffic issues, the nightlife and partying appeared to be unaffected last year. It's not a religious holiday or anything like that. I think it would be a great time to visit. I'll sure as hell be here partying!

Sun Jun 6, 9:04 AM ET Add Oddly Enough - Reuters to My Yahoo!

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (Reuters) - A hungry Argentine thief forced his way into a home on Friday to steal clothes and appliances -- before sitting at the dinner table to demand the captive family cook him a proper meal.

"He ordered a steak and fried eggs. Afterward, he pulled the telephone out and tied the family up," said the porter from the building in a posh neighborhood of Buenos Aires.

The thief then escaped.

When I checked consolidators in March, they didn't have any good pricing over direct ticketing. United has run weekend sales (good for up to a 10 day stay) in the $500 range, but I don't know they would do any during the summer.

Brother Tucker,

Argentina has much to offer a serviceman on holiday. So much in fact you must fight the temptation to desert.

I suggest you "think out of the box" Of course a ticket from Q8 to BA will cost you 2600 dollars. However can you find free transport to one of the NATO bases in Europe like Lakenheath or Ramstein?

Aerolineas Argentinas, Alitalia, AirFrance, British Airways, Lufthansa, SwissAir and VARIG all offer bargain prices from London, Geneva, Paris, Frankfurt and Rome to Argentina.

A modest furnished apartment can be you sin shack .

You don't mention if you can speak Spanish, as fine as Roxana is after three appointment arranged by her, you are out 30USD and that's an hour of FS.

Argentina is great for the sportsman and spring will be starting in September. There is wing shooting in Cordoba, pidgeon, quail, pheasant and grouse. There is excellent fishing for Dorado in Corrientes. Weekend magazine is an excellent resourse for anything in the out of doors from quiet estancias to whitewater rafting.

Bring a pal, you can split the costs of a room and the girls. Remember a true friend is a bloke who buys two blow jobs and gives you one.

Tucker-Most of the time it's much cheaper if you break the flight up into two segments. Fly to London, and then to EZE, or to NYC and then EZE. Some Asian countries have much lower airfares, so you might get a round trip to Bangkok, and then buy tickets from there.

AA is having an intl weekend sale (7days max stay, I think) from JFK to EZE for Jun 23-25 departures, and returning June 28-30 for $469 plus taxes. Must buy by this Friday.

Even if you got a ticket from the West coast this might be a good deal. Especially if you don't want to stay a long time.

THE AMERICAS

Peronist Argentina's Other
Hallmark: Rampant Crime

By MARY ANASTASIA O'GRADY
June 18, 2004; Page A11

Juan Carlos Blumberg sat down at the Journal's New York offices two weeks ago and opened a tattered folder, thick with photographs, news clippings and documents. The Argentine businessman immediately put before me two grade-school pictures of a fair-haired boy. The photographs were almost two decades old but the innocence and trust of a happy child were well preserved.

Mr. Blumberg then reached into the folder and pulled out recent photographs of the boy as a young man, with his university friends, with a sports team, with his father. There was a picture of the small airplane he was building with his engineering class. Finally, there was a studio portrait of the student with the dimpled grin, a face illuminated by an aurora of promise. That's when Mr. Blumberg's eyes welled up. Twenty-three-year-old Axel Blumberg, Juan Carlos's son, was randomly kidnapped on a street in Buenos Aires in March, held briefly for ransom and then murdered.

Yet Juan Carlos was not in New York to grieve. He was here as part of his newfound mission, in the name of his slain son, to restore public security to his nation. The Manhattan Institute, a New York-based think tank renowned for its work on urban crime, hosted his visit.

In the days since his death, Axel has become a symbol of Argentina's colossal failure in governance. The facile explanation for the rampant crime that claimed his life is the rise in poverty since the economic collapse set off by the debt default in late 2001 and the peso devaluation in 2002. But the elder Mr. Blumberg and a ground swell of angry Argentines see it quite differently.

Mr. Blumberg is now leading a grass-roots rebellion that argues that it is corruption, not poverty, that is responsible for the terrifying violence racing through the country. The movement also challenges the ideological status quo. From the rigid military government of the 1970s the pendulum swung, says Mr. Blumberg, to an ultra-liberal structure overly generous toward criminals at the expense of their victims. To halt the epidemic requires judicial and law enforcement reform and that, Mr. Blumberg argues, "touches the nerve center" of political power.

Proof of the popular momentum backing Mr. Blumberg is evident. Almost five million Argentines have signed a Blumberg petition asking for profound institutional changes to shore up public security. On April 1, some 130,000 demonstrated in front of the Ministry of Justice in Buenos Aires. The crowd held candles to express its solidarity with crime victims. Compare this to the actions of the radical left activists known as "piqueteros." When they demonstrate they vandalize property and snarl traffic. Interestingly, they often get what they want from the government.

This of course gets to the heart of the problem. The Peronist Party's base is a mixture of militant labor and government bureaucracy. When labor threatens violence, Mr. Kirchner responds. On the other hand, reform of the Argentine judicial system would mean turning the Peronist Party machine upside down and shaking it from the heels. How the populist Mr. Kirchner will square his loyalty to the Peronist establishment while answering the clamor for change will be fascinating to watch. Both sides cannot win.

There is no debate about the crime problem. An official survey in greater Buenos Aires by the Ministry of Justice found a population under assault -- 42% of those surveyed had been crime victims in 2002. As to the supposed connection to the economic collapse, the ministry reports that this figure has hovered around the 40% mark since 1998. Also, of those victimized in 2002, only about 25% reported the crime, suggesting a dearth of confidence in Argentine justice. Anecdotally, truck drivers in April carried out a one-day strike to protest the wave of robbery against them in the Province of Buenos Aires.

Mr. Blumberg's movement holds that two major factors in criminal justice are driving the crisis. The first is the link between organized crime and law enforcement. With police forces reporting to governors -- rather than mayors -- there is a lack of political accountability.

Low police salaries raise the incentives for cooperation with criminals. While there are undoubtedly clean police in Argentina, there is a widespread belief that crime rings engaged in car theft, illegal narcotics and kidnapping could not operate with impunity without some level of police assistance. The Blumberg delegation to New York took special interest in the "integrity tests" carried out by the internal affairs unit of the New York Police Department.

Reform advocates complain that criminals don't have much to worry about in court either. Fernando Alvarez, executive director of the Freedom Network -- a national group of public-policy institutes supporting Mr. Blumberg -- reports that the judicial offices in the Province of Buenos Aires are open only six hours a day, closed all of January and half of July. Criminal cases can drag on for two years. "Slow justice means no justice," says Mr. Alvarez.

Mr. Blumberg's petition calls for a more professional justice system, one that would, for example, be open at least eight hours a day. The petition also calls for an end to the practice of reducing life sentences to a maximum of 25 years and for a national network of criminal records.

Much will depend on Mr. Kirchner's political will to attack the problem. So far he has been alarmingly out to lunch. Last year he nominated Eugenio Zaffaroni, a close political ally who is famously soft on crime, to the Supreme Court. The respected Argentine legal research institute Fores wrote at the time that Mr. Zaffaroni "centers his concerns on the rights of criminals and subordinates those of the victims" and that he views the criminal justice system as a "mechanism for social oppression."

Nevertheless, Mr. Zaffaroni was confirmed, suggesting that the political elite in Argentina doesn't get it. The only question now is how many more Axel Blumberg tragedies will have to unfold before public pressure produces reform in this supposed democracy?

Johan:

Without the aim to start a discussion about a topic off the main objective of WSG, I would provide some remarks to the article you posted.

The reason I'm doing so is to show you guys how wrong could be an aledged "specialist in Latin America" when analyzing some topics. I would dare to say that such distorted anaysis isn't too far from the blind conviction of some "specialist in Middle East" at the US Federal administration, who firmly believed that Saddam had WMD and links to Al Qaida, a mistake that taxpayers like yourselves are financing.

So, on to the points:

- Crime has significantly decreased during 2003-2004. In fact, even some local think tanks opossed to Kirchner such as Centro para una Nueva Mayoría report that murder of Federal Police officers dropped from one per day during the first semester of 2003 to less than 10 in the first half of 2004. Clearly, claiming that crime in BA soars is wrong.

- There were 130000 demonstrators in the first gathering at the Congress, but some 50000 in front of the Courts, so the reference given at the article shows that the author didn't bother to confirm the current evidence. She just simply wrote what he was told.

- Some specialists such as Alarcón or Saiñ argue that corruption at the Police took roots during the last military ruling, when the lack of constitutional control of the armed forces and the security forces led to the stablishment of regulatory mechanisms between criminals and the police structure.

- The same specialists point out that the main support for crime relies on the triangle made of politicians at BA suburbs-police-criminals. Briefly, politicians need money to pay for their campaigns and to maintain thier social network of influence, and the only way to do so is by getting a piece of what crime yields. Police acts a a hinge, administering crime instead of figting it and sharing a piece of its proceeds.

Hopefully, things are changing for good. After decades of lack of control, the current administration is decided to dismantle such triangle. They already started with closing the illegal car workshops who disassemble stolen cars to sell their pieces. As a consecuence, robbery of cars dramatically decreased during the last year.

Other criminal activities are likely to follow suit, something that politicians, police officers and other players linked to the old political financial system are reluctant to accept. So what they do? They oppose to many current measures, among which the renewal of the Supreme Court (even though Zaffaroni is an internationally prestigious judge, much better than the crap appointed by Mr. Menem) because the cleaning of the institutions will accelerate the dismantling of the corrupt political financial system. Otherwise, I cannot understand the attack to Zaffaroni at the article, as if a Justice at the Supreme Court would be in charge of fighting everyday crime.

This issue is long and clearly off-topic. Just ask anything you don't understand, and I wil try to shed some light over it.

Hope this helps,

Andres

Andre.

My posting of the article is to offer fellow mongers background info about the country from a very respected and reliable source (WSJ has a long standing policy to triple check their sources from multiple angels).

As to your questions. A few items you may be misinformed.

1. The writer of the article is a "she" Miss O'Grady, also, she is not with the U.S. government but with the editorial board of WSJ.

2. The crime stats cited are based on Argentina's Ministry of Justice public release, not on 3rd party reports. Also note that even the Ministry self assessment indicates that only 25% of these crimes were reported. You stated that 2002-3, 2003-4 crime is down. Is that based on political think tank survey or on Ministry of Justice numbers. The writer does not seem to know that Ministry of Justice may have released their 2003 data if they indeed were completed and released to the public.

3. More importantly, the article pointed out a series of fundamental structural problem in the Argentina Justice and Economic system which the government does not seem to have a solution. The best example is the "country default" issue.

Again, the article is part of "background" info which is considered to be from reliable sources and not intending to be debates. I thank you for your comments.

Johan:

My main objective when addressing the article was precisely to show that some media, including that considered prestigious or reliable, can be seriously mistaken.

Following are the links from Clarin.com, which show that O'Grady didn't check her sources:

http://old.clarin.com/diario/2004/04/01/um/m-734923.htm

(This was the 130000+ people demonstration, the famous and biggest one in front of the Congress)

http://old.clarin.com/diario/2004/04/22/um/m-746949.htm

(This was the demonstration in front of the Supreme Court-Tribunales building, which the author mistook for the Ministry of Justice; that demonstration gathered 50000 to 90000 people)

Seems Johan's posting of an article critical of Argentine society has wounded our friend Andres' Argentino pride just a bit. But mightn't we return our discussion to chicas? There's crime everywhere, even on Wall Street. But I've not seen such wonderful women in New York as they have in Buenos Aires! :D

I see that Johan and Andres have politely dealt with each other. Thank you, Johann and Andres, for discussing this issue like the gentlemen that you are.

True, true, true, Ferloga. I agree with you that both our colleagues make good, civil points.

My perspective, as a visitor who has been to Argentina about a dozen times, is that there is serious crime in Buenos Aires, to be sure. I've seen things with my own eyes (and heard the gunshots from an attempted robbery of the Lan Chile office on 9 de Julio a year or so ago) and have heard worse stories from my Argentino friends. But all-in-all it's as safe a destination as going anywhere in the U.S. One should not let horror stories keep one from enjoying the country's pleasures.

My take on the WSJ article (and Mary O'Grady's weekly columns are one of the parts of the paper which I always take time to read) is to consider that there is a sizable Argentine middle class which yearns for law-and-order and honest government. They are getting louder in voicing their complaints with the system, which are based in the reality of everyday life down there. (The U.S. developed the same thing in the 60s and 70s.) In my opinion the accuracy of specific details is less important than recognizing this social phenomenon.

Airport Remis Service

Anyone who would like to use Anna, our mansion remis driver to travel back and forth to the airport will find themselves being driven by what might be the cutest remis driver in BsAs.
She drives her Ford Escort, which is in fine condition, and her rate is 45 pesos to downtown (I just paid $52 to one of the companies at the airport).
Anna lived in Naples, Florida for a couple of years, and speaks and understands enough English to get non-spanish speakers to where they are going.
PM me for contact info, or to make a reservation.

Thanks for the follow up posting. My posting directed travelers to the MSNBC page. While yours talked about a couple of the companies that are listed on the page. For example - the Virgin Airways packages were not mentioned in your posting.

The net effect is that we are all trying to give each other as much information as we can.

I am sure both of our postings were of help to those who are looking to come to BA.

Hello all fellow pooners in Argentina.

I cannot believe all the info that is here. There is a great new book out "the paradox of choice" and it seems very fitting here. I will be coming down from lovely pooners paridise (Vancouver) in a couple of months. I am tired of the Thailand scene and the very imature attitude of Thai girls. And am looking very forward to meeting some latin stunners with brains, and awesome bodies. I may never return. maybe I will buy a room off of Jackson at the mansion. I have my ticket figured out , but I'm curious as to what hotel to stay at , so many choices. I like comfort and quality , but not Hilton's. I think i would stay a week or so in hotel in good area then find a apartment to rent. I would like to stay a few months. I like good red wine , good steaks, nice pad and 9-10's in women. I'm not cheap charlie but will not ruin the standards. If I budget 150us dollars a day I'm sure after reading many posts that this will be plenty for a stylish good time. I'm one that likes to find a super star stunner and keep her. I don't need new pussy every night. What is the non- pro or semi-pro scene like?
Thank you all once again for all the valueable posts. I am looking very forward to my trip. Is there a bar or club for wsg guys to meet and swap info?

Hi,

What do you think the WSG Mansion is for?

Exon Reporting: Red Cork, Welcome to the Club and congrats on your choice of Argentina. IMHO the finest Mongering in the world all things considered.

Having worked for the United States Government as a G.I. in the Republic of Korea as one of its occupation troups, I can honestly say Ive done enough asian women to know your really going to enjoy Buenos Aires. There is no comparsion on both quality and service.

First I'd like to add a comment to Jacksons comment added to your post. I don't know the pricing of the Mansion. But I do know that Jackson and Capt. Dave have invested a considerable sum in setting up the Mansion. I also know that profit is not their main objective. but rather having fun is.

Since you'll be a Newbie to Buenos Aires you might give the Mansion some serious consideration for your first few nights. And the reason being is you are a "Newbie" and by staying in the Mansion you would be around veteran Mongers, I.E. Capt. Dave and others. This will save you both valuable time & money in the long run. Time being the most valuable of the two commodities. As thease people truly know the lay of the land so to speak you will be days a head of the learning curve by spending a few nights at the Mansion.

Yes you might save a few dollars by staying in some place like the Dazzler Hotel for example. But the knowledge you'll gain from hanging out with the Pro's for a few days will far out way the price difference.

Moreover I'll add some third party credibility to both Jackson and Capt. Dave. Their both truly stand up guy's and I know you'll enjoy them as friends. But more importantly they know B.A. as well as anyone you'll find that speaks English and they'l get you off on the right start.

Another suggestion would be to take a week or 10 days after you find your apartment to pick out that stunner you write about and cut a deal with her. This will run you some where around a $1,000 to $1,500 per month depending on the girl. But here again I would hang with Capt. Dave a while before I did something like that.

If you think about it, that sounds like getting married and trust me Buenos Aires is no place for a Monger to be married. Trust me on this one, theres just to much going on to be tied down to one Chica. There are two many head turners in B.A. to be faithful to just one.

Capt. Dave, an expatrate, has the right idea on monogamy in Argentina. He keeps 4 or 5 girls on the string at all times, always looking for something better. When one relationship gets old or borring he simply cuts her lose, selecting the next best choice to replace her, this is an on going proscess

You must keep this simple fact in mind. There a lot more Escorts, Club Girls, Street Girls, Internet Girls, Cafe Girls, News Paper Girls, Apartment Girls, prostutites just Girls period than there could ever possibilty be business for. So theres no rush to fall in love in Argentina.

Finally Ill add, there seams to some sort of a contest in Argentina between the women. Its the only place in the world Ive ever been that the women seam to compete with one another to see which one can be more beautiful.

Enjoy Your Trip ----- Exon

Exxon, et. al.

Thanks for the kind words, it seems unfair that I have to report that, sadly, Anna is not "on the menu". She is single, and you may give her your best shot, but be prepared for her to confine her activities to transportation related services! The good news is she is actually a very good driver and a nice change from the typical BA cabbie!
She is available for other trips as well, but needs at least a days notice as she has a young daughter (6 years old, but a future heartbreaker I can tell already!) she needs to park somewhere - seldom a problem because she has several brothers and sisters living nearby.

With her permission, I have put her direct contact info (email and cell phone) down on the page at

Thank you Jackson and Exon,

Exon,

You just totally convinced me, I can't wait.

Jackson,

Thank you and I did some more surfing in this huge Argentine section and saw a pic of the mansion. I would like to know more info please. Is there a private or public bar there? Resturant? Hostesses on site? or bring your own? It looks fabulous and I am sure myself and my travelling buddy will take a couple of rooms from you. One more silly question but, what will the weather be like in Sept. and are there beaches close by? Other things to do besides pooning. A wee bit of action in the morning and then some touristy stuff for the afternoon and some more serious action after dinner and cocktails. Sounds just perfect.

Ohhhh! I'm so excited! And that is saying something for my age.

Hi,

The Mansion is a private, invitation only venue, and is definately NOT open to the public.

Of course we have a bar, and a pool table, and a hot tub, and a swimming pool, and a wide screen TV, and DVD players and stereos in every room, and an exercise room with a universal gym, etc.

It's not a resturant, although the cook will be stocking the refigerator with a daily assortment of pastas, pastries, cheeses and other snacks, but we want her to leave every day at 4pm. Of course you can always help your self to cooking a steak (always in stock) on the grill. However, please realize that we are in BA, with literally hundreds of first class restaurants, so there's little point in competing with them.

We do expect to have a BBQ / party every Saturday night, at which we will be inviting several chicas to join us for the festivities, but you are under no obligation to make any deals with them.

Chicas will not be living on the premises. Generally, you (or Roxana) will call your chicas to visit you. However, we are developing a private book of personally selected and screened chicas who are available only ot Manions guests, and who are not available in any other venue.

Looking for help.

Hi all, I am lookig for some help, I have managed to swing a business trip to South America for a couple of weeks at the end of August. Infact I only have one meeting in BA which will be a waste of time. I have never been to South America before and am wondering what I am best to do. Should I stay in BA, or go to the beach or both, if so where is the best place to go.

I was also thinking about going to Rio for more of the same, I would appreciate anybodys thoughts on the matter. A huge thank you in advance.

Hi Everyone,

I want to thank all of you for the wealth of information. I was lucky enough to spend 4 very fast paced days in BA about a month ago. All your advice and tips are right on the money!

I had the opportunity to experience Orleans. What a shock to the system that place is. Walking into this small cafe and suddenly being surrounded by many, many beautiful ladies. Too many choices! All and all very good experiences. I'll save the rest for the trip section.

My question for the "general info" section is in regards to cable/dsl internet access reliability. I see many apartments for rent advertising cable/dsl internet access. I luckily have the opportunity to work remotely from BA. But I definitely will need a reilable cable/dsl internet connection to do my job.

Can you guys who live down there let me know how your connection is in terms of reliability? It would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Okay. I am back from my first sex trip to Buenos Aires. I had been before as a dirty hippy travelling with my own sexpot, but those days are long past.

I found Buenos Aires to be refreshingly cheap, in every way. I offended a girl I was with when I laughed at my bill in one of the best restaurants.

As for the women, I cannot add much. Everyone has pretty much hit it on the head with how simple and easy everything is. I stayed at the Dazzler and they were very accomodating. They just smiled and were even very polite to the women.

I did the usual escort services and also the cafes everyone writes about. It all went well and I have nothing new to ad to recent posts.

One thing that I did that was fun was actually date a regular girl while there. This woman would never take money and I never offered -- she isn't a non-pro or pro. My spanish is pretty solid. I contacted her through match.com international. She is a grad student and is hot as hell. I spoke to her before coming down a few times on the phone. I am not a stunning guy (as a few mongers I met down there can attest to), but I am not obese or anything. I had the best sex with this woman and she had a better body than the escorts. I wouldn't rely on that for the sex thing and it is only a complement to the trip's real goal and schedule. I just want to say it was nice to break up my time there and in Rio with a few free sex sessions. I even met her parents and had wine with them. It pretty much made it more of an enjoyable and interact with the people kind of trip. Consider this if you have the time and plan ahead.

As for my overall impression of Buenos Aires. I love the women here more than Rio. This may be due to my bias about loving women that are taller and more slender. I love New York women and Buenos Aires reminds me of that. Tall, well dressed, etc. I also like to dress up and have a great dinner. While Rio has almost equal food in places, the overall experience isn't as classy and I was overdressed in jeans sometimes. I really enjoyed the wine and dine, then fuck experience.

Regarding reliability of broadband internet connection:

Recently (mid April through mid June) I rented an apartment for two months with the stipulation that a fast internet connection had to be available. The installer came right on time and got me set up. The company was Fibertel and I needed a good reliable connection and had no problems with this cable system. The owner of the apartment took care of the billing and the opening and closing of the account, so I don't know anything about that aspect.

Red Cork:

Try Lonely Planet or Search for Secretaria de Turismo on Google.

Beaches: Southern BA Province, from San Clemente del Tuyu to Monte Hermoso, 200-300 miles of small vacation towns. We have nice beaches, but nothing comparable to those of Uruguay or Brazil.

Wine country: 2 main provinces: Mendoza, San Juan (also La Rioja and Salta provinces have some wine), where weather is warm and dry.

Skiing areas: Mendoza, Rio Negro and Neuquen provinces (also cross country at Tierra del Fuego). Search for Bariloche, Esquel, Las Leñas on Google.

Respect to salmon, we have a local white salmon and Chilean pink salmon. I guess that Capt. Dave refers to the latter.

Hope this helps,

Art,

The chances are slim to none for the average chica that wants to get a visa. Unless she has a stable work history, money in the bank, owns property and has family in Buenos Aires her chances are very very low. Even if she has those things it's not so easy. I do know more people from Argentina then other countries that are able to get visas though from South America.

Better to try to fly her in to Mexico and meet her in Cancun or another island country close to the USA. If you have a ton of frequent flyer miles banked it's a good way to vacation with your sweetheart.

Here is a good website you can utilize if you want to see what the passport/visa requirements are. Good luck.

What is the general education level in argentina? Do most girls speak some english, or should you know some spanish to really have a good time down there?

Knuckhead
07-17-04, 16:27
Luc Besson:

The vast majority of working girsl DO NOT speak English at all. It is possible but very difficult to get by in English alone, unless you are a veteran and frequent visitor who is completely familiar with the"lay of the land" and has the upper hand in terms of mongering knowledge over the girls. One will inevitably end up getting subpar experiences for inflated prices if he has NO knowlege of Spanish.

The good news is, knowing SOME Spanish, as little as one could learn in a day or two, will make all the difference in the world. If you learn just a few basic negotiation sentences and read the information in the board, it is enough to monger first class AND get very reasonable prices.

My suggestion: Buy the "living Language" Ultimate Spanish series for about $40, and play the tapes in your car for about 2 weeks. That should be enough.

In regards to regular girls, I do not have any personal experiences but would assume that most do not speak any English. Like most other places in the world, in order to bed them one will require more than just cursory language skills. I suppose there may be some exceptions for those who excel at being a "cunning linguist" (pun).

Hope this helped, and long live the kingdom of WSG!

Truthfully, soon after the first day I felt like a sex zombie simply going through the motions. Although the sex felt great, it was simply a case of "too much of a good thing". Part of the reason was that I had at least 3 sessions scheduled during the day and at times it seemed hard to mentally keep up (physically, it wasn't a problem thanks to a little yellow devil ;)). The price I paid was that I didn't get to leave my apartment much except to get some lunch and maybe go out for a few hours at dinner.

Consider a different perspective, an FKK. I liken it to a rodizio style churrascaria restaurant, where they keep brining the food until you say "no mas". You maybe interested in reading my recent report (click here (http://www.wsgforum.com/vforum/showthread.php?s=&postid=256227#post256227)), but to make a long story short, the chicas kept hitting on me for their 50 Euros, and being as weak as I am, I ended up having 6 girls in a matter of about 7 hours. It felt a little different, as I was not on a "schedule". No doubt, this rate is not sustainable, however. The next day, even though I was back in the sex prison, I had no desire whatsoever for sex.

I believe that in my upcoming trip I'll follow a more balanced approach. I'll perhaps go sightseeing in the mornings, stop at one of the apartments in early afternoon to take the edge off, go home for a nap and a quick inernet chica session, followed by dinner. Whatever happens after dinner I'll leave to chance.

I'll be interested to hear your comments on the "quantity vs. quality" issue.

Bonnefemme info requested,

Ok, I have read much of the forum and have found some references to Bonnefemme. I have also visited their website and found the girls to be hot (if the photos are real).

However, I do not see it in Jackson's list of apartments, boliches or clubs. What is it considered? An apartment? Also, does anyone know the phone number and address.

And the most important question: what is the general feeling out there about this place? Worth it?

Thanks,

Stowe

6 weeks until my first trip to BsAs. Cannot wait. Hope to see some of you while I am there.

Stowe,
Bonnefemme is not a good place at all. The girls are the
ones in the site, but then again not, if you know what I mean.
A lot of brushing and computer work go into the pictures
before the are on the web.
At bonnefemme they will offer you a parade, just like at the
Santa Fe 1017, but if you are not satisfied and opt to pass
they will ask you for 20 pesos.
All around the place is BA's worse apartamento in my
opinion.

Ditto what DWC said...my worst experience in BA was there. However, 2 yrs ago one of my favorites Anabella worked there. Sadly she has now graduated and is out of the business.

I think Knuckhead makes a good point on the quanity vs. quality. I think there is definately something to be said for doing things in moderation, enjoying the moment, and not trying to do too much on one trip. I made the mistake of doing this before -- seeing as many girls as I could in one night. It feels the next day a bit like you gorged on a meal instead of dining at a fine french restaurant where you receive small portions but every part of the meal is delicious.

The trouble is when you are only in town for a few days and you live in sex prison (aka usa) you feel like you should do as much as you can while you are there.

Of course this is just my personal take, I'm sure some guys can chuck moderation out the window and be perfectly happy ;-) .

Hey EZE & DwC,

Thanks for the warning. I will remove that place from my list of destinations. I don't think that'll be an issue since BsAs seems to be a wonderland of selection and options.

Again, thanks.

Re currency exchange: I believe I misspoke when we were discussing this at the mansion the other night. I said I never exchanged dollars, but took money out at the ATM on a daily basis. I said my brokerage house (TD Waterhouse) did not charge me any fees for this. All true. But I believe I said I got the average of the bid rate and the ask rate. What I meant to say is I get the average of all the bid rates during the day. By this I mean the number of pesos per dollar, also known as the buy rate for dollars.

I got some more info on how this is calculated. Only large commercial transactions go into the averaging process, so that helps me since the bid/ask spread on those is less. What it boils down to is that if the casas here in Buenos Aires are buying dollars for 2.92 pesos, I might get something like 2.9277 which is what I got on a recent day. Not as good as the average of the bid and the ask and I don't know why I said that; I was confused. The bank obviously can't convert at the average of the bid and the ask as they'd LOSE money.

But still, about the best deal you can get and MUCH better than paying 1-3% on credit cards. Of course, with credit cards you can get up to 60 days of "float" and that has to be considered too, especially if interest rates continue to rise.

Last night I purchased Patricia Lorca's CD. Patricia is the cute blond singer at Catto's. (I will not mention again how much I am dying to fuck her). This CD is very good and she sounds even better than in person. It is all covers and there is a wide range from Whitney Houston to Frank Sinatra. For those who don't know, Patricia speaks pretty good English, although by no means perfect, and the CD contains songs in English, Spanish, and one in Portuguese. This gal can really belt it out or can also croon soft and sweet.

Buy her CD for 15 pesos. Buy two and give one to your favorite Catto's chica. This will be an asset on your balance sheet and not a mere expense on your income statement.

Jazz Doc,

The Sofitel is a gorgeous five star hotel which is a renovation of a
turn of the Century Luxury Apt building. I've had a meal there, first class, but pricey. I have no idea about mongering and chica friendliness. The location is a short cab ride or 15 min walk to the chica zone in Recoletta or the down town bars. Shampoo is close. the top art galleries in town are on the block. I think that you could negociate a rate of $165 per night. I asked when I was there last xmas time.

Do yourself a favor and spend a couple of nights in BA.

Going to BsAs in about 6 weeks and am interested in knowing what the chances are of finding a few chicas that will do CIM? And should I expect to pay more for this service?

That is never advertised with the internet chicas so I don't have a sense of the availability.

If any of you have a chica to recommend please feel free to PM me with her name & phone number and if she speaks any English.

Thanks,

Stowe

Party at the Mansion this Saturday?

Anyone up for a dinner party at the mansion this Saturday night.
Burn some steaks, invite some chicas, play some pool, etc.?
Start about 9, so there will be time to sally forth later if you want to.

Chip in for expenses - probably about 25-50 pesos each. I'll invite some ladies who will come if we pay the cab fare.

RSVP if your up for it - if a few of you are, I'll make it happen!
Tell me if you're bringing a date so I can avoid over (or under) inviting ladies.

(Yes, there are some bedrooms available)
:)

Just want to confirm whether a visa is required for a US citizen to travel to Argentina? I thought I read somewhere here that one is NOT required?

Thanks,

Visa NOT required. Passport IS required. 90 day max stay without jumping thru additional hoops. Theoretically proof of return or onward travel and sufficient funds required but I have never been asked for this (yet).

Of those who have rented an apartment before, is a security deposit typical? If yes, what is the customary, reasonable amount 50% of the total rental, 75%? I ask because of the risk of not getting the security deposit back from the landlord.

Thanks,

Stowe

Andres

Security deposits vary. Some ask up to 3 months, but you can use them up for the last months, so you wouldn't lose your money.

Hope this helps,

Andres

Security deposits are more then typical - they are pretty much universal. They are also negotiable.
Expect to pay 1/2-1 month (in cash) up front.
This is one reason I liked to rent from agencys (like Reynolds - http://www.argentinahomes.com/, or many others) They hold the deposit, not the landlord.
Reynolds went to bat for me on 2 occasions when the landlord did not to want return all the deposit.
They also will frequently (try to) hold some back for a month after you leave to pay incoming bills (phone, electricty, etc) that have not arrived yet

Also, although Andres is seldom wrong, extranjeros renting for short term (> 1 year) will probably NOT be able to use their deposit for the last month(s) rent (at least with the landlords permission!)

Capt Dave and Andres,

The reason I asked this question is because when trying to rent an apartment, I was told a somewhat high deposit was required but was told I would get it back at the end of my 10 day stay there next month.

It took me by surprise that the deposit was $600 and was a bit worried whether I would get it back.

That's an OUTRAGEOUS deposit for a 10 day stay - tell them to get stuffed!

Come stay at the mansion instead, where at least you know in advance we are going to rip you off for your deposit so you don't have to waste a bunch of time trying to get it back!

:)

Capt. Dave is right. That's obscene what they are trying to charge you for a deposit. Keep in mind many locals try screwing you on that money that is rightfully yours. One of the apartments I leased I never got my $400 US back even though the apartment was returned in perfect condition. Get this.... their bed broke, the AC broke and I PAID to fix or replace them and they still didn't give me my money back. Some of these people are thieves.

Typically if you lease an apartment for a year they will ask you for 2 months rent. On my other apartments in 2002 I negotiated down to one month's rent. On this lease I just signed I had to put down 2 months deposit.

I also agree with Capt. Dave about Reynolds. I almost used them to lease my apartment but the owner kept changing the price so I walked away from the deal. They seem like good people. I'm actually talking with them about trying to do some business together. They have been nothing but very above board.

No way I'd pay that much deposit they are asking you to pay.
