Hey guys,

Does anyone know if a USA model TV will function in BA?

It would need to be dual voltage or you would need a transformer, I know that much.

The key is whether the broadcast system is the same or at least compatible.

My last set was a "muti-system" worldwide TV but I may have paid for things that I did not need.

It was designed to work anywhere in the world.

If I can bring down a USA SONY SMART 3D 40 and plug and play I will be in heaven, heaven!

3D PORN!

Oh Shit!

Quick, cover your face dude!

There are multiple broadcasting systems in use.

PAL 1, PAL 2, Secam, NTSC; systems that are NOT compatible!

I'm sure Seaman knows the answer, he knows EVERYTHING!

TL.

P. S. What the fuck am I doing by not talking about "Gash for Cash?"

Also , can you waltz past customs with a 40 under your arm ?

Maybe if it's a 40 ounce beer in a paper sack !

No, the tv's from here the states will not work, I took a 32 lcd last year and it didn't work, I have a cousin that fixes electronics and he said that he might get it to work but he will have to take it apart, it will work but only in black and white, so I have it as my monitor for my computer.Works great as a monitor though. great colors

But I have faith that my cousin will make it work he. S looking in to it for me,

Good news I am arrivving there Saturday 10th but the bad news is I'm leaving Tuesday. Not to much time to party hard but will do my best.

Hope my info helped

Argentina is officially pal-and and all companies except direct tv transmit in pal-and.

Direct tv transmits in ntsc which is same as statesSo if I only use Direct TV it should work?

What about all the 3D. Widgets, youtube, skype, etc, etc, frills, bells and whistles?

Me thinks I am STUCK paying double and having to buy a local set!

$880. 00 dollars in the USA and $8000. 00 pesos in BA!

Not cool but it would have a BA warranty.

The Sony models that they sell here are made in Argentina, something that makes me cringe!

Funny thing about the set the cocksuckers (appropriate time to use the word Exon) took from me :

They did NOT take the instructions!

But yes, it was a world wide, multi system turd!

Thanks K,

An US bought TV will work if used with a HD decoder box from your cable company or DirecTV. As long as you hook it up using the HDMI connection it works.

The moment you want to hook it up to the analog cable / antenna, then it won't work. TVs in the USA are sold as NTSC only, which will not accept any other system. Most TVs in other countries will actually be "multi standard" and be capable of receiving PAL and NTSC signals from the antenna input.

However. Argentina together with Uruguay and Paraguay use the PAL-N standard. That means that the audio sub carrier is on a different offset. So if you are going to import a TV for use in Argentina, ensure it supports PAL-N. (See for more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PAL)

Conclusion; Yes, you can use an US TV in Argentina (with a 220/110V transformer) as long as you use a HDMI connection to your cable / satellite box.
