I've wanted to satisfy my curiosity towards BA for a long time as well as continue to fulfill my bucket list of visiting every central and south american country (as well as to f*ck at least one woman from said countries).
I stayed at the AP house in Recoleta. I'd say it's a work in progress, sorely needing a woman's touch, as well as a paint job in the front hall and apt #1, where I stayed, but you can't beat the price! Apt #1 is roomy and very quiet, though could use an avenue of fresh air. The area of the AP house is definitely urban, and the street that it is on is packed in the morning rush hour, but I got used to it very quickly, as it was my home for 10 days.
BA is awesome, one of the great cities of the world, and I know I just scratched the surface in my few days there. It's true what they say, it's like being in Europe without being in Europe. I immensely enjoyed sitting in many of the thousands of coffee shops admiring the sophisticated, cosmopolitan locals. Conversely, I didn't enjoy my struggles with the Porteno accent. BA folks speak very fast as well. My first half hour was comical. Went to a nearby Subway shop, ordered chicken. Said "poyo" (Mexican), the guy didn't understand me. Said "poyjo" (Colombian). Nothing. Then the guy figured it out and said "poyzshzo". Oy vey.
Anyway, a tour of the not to miss cemetery as well as many other tourist sites with TejanoLibre got me oriented to the city.
Spent a lot of time talking with Daddy Rulz in the AP house, and I have to give a shout out to him. If you're a newbie in the AP house, use him as a source, he is happy to help and gives great advice. He made my trip 10 times better, for basic travel stuff as well as chica info. Went to El Tigre with him and another expat, Boca and various restaurants in Recoleta.
Did a two day excursion to Igauza, which I wrote about in another post. Totally amazing.
Went out one night with all the tenants of the AP house to Nuevo Estilo, the strip club. I really liked it, a bunch of 5-8s in the club, which obviously caters to the Argie businessmen. I'd go back there on a future trip.
Only did 6 chicas in 10 days, focusing most of my time on one.
